Origin:
The American Pit Bull Terrier was developed in 19th-century America, from bull and terrier types, specifically for dog fighting. The breed has been known under a variety of names, including Bull and Terrier, Half and Half and Yankee Terrier. Recognized by the United Kennel Club in the U.S. since 1898, purebred APBTs have long pedigrees.

Impulsive and strong-willed, the APBT is admired for its tenacity, courage, spirit and willingness to please its owner. This powerful breed needs a responsible owner who will commit to careful socialization and ongoing training

An agile, athletic breed, the APBT needs regular outdoor exercise.

This medium-sized dog measures between 18 and 22 in (46-56 cm) at the shoulder. Weight varies considerably, from 30-80 lb (14-36 kg).

The coat is short, glossy and stiff to the touch.

All colours are acceptable, with or without markings.
