  • dad died grandmother says life insurance was drained by funeral costs?

    Family - 6 hours ago

my father died. I am his only kid Im 27. my grandmother took a life insurance policy out on my father. I was never told the details. The arrangements was no funeral parlor 2 days after he died we went to the family church and had mass then went straight to the cemetery. I am unsure of how to find out if I was lied to. or if my grandmother was the one to end up with what ever the life insurance paid off. I have heard that she may have been the primary beneficiary as long as she survived his dying. and I would then be the secondary, only being beneficiary if my grandmother was deceased when he died. can someone put this in perspective for me please?

Okay, here's the deal. Whenever I like a guy,I don't want him to right away (if at all), so I act uninterested even when he shows interest. It's childish but it's a defense mechanism for me. So there's this guy I really like a lot and I've given him the cold shoulder, even when I tried to show interest (I'm messed up,I know). I want to know if there's a way for me to fix the damage, start over maybe. The only method that I haven't tried is telling him flat out, which I cannot (will not) do, especially since I think he make have lost some interest. If anyone has any USEFUL advice, strategies, etc., I'd greatly appreciate them

i like this guy. ever since i told my friend how much i like him, she flirts with him right in front of my face and then brags about how much they talk and how good friends they are. the first time i told her that she kept flirting with him in front of me, she told me she would stop. it got to the fourth time i was telling her and she said she would stop talking to him altogether because she wanted to prove to me that she was a better friend. i told her it was her last chance. its now at the sixth time and ive had enough. she started telling me how her and my crush started talking on the phone heaps and texting and stuff and that he asked her out and she was just rubbing it in my face. i got really angry. do you think i was right to get angry at her? i recently talked to the guy i like and he told me everything that she said was pretty much bullshit besides he called her for half an hour once to find out my best friends phone number because they are like brother and sister blah blah. also i recently talked to my friend (the bitch)'s ex best friend and she told me that my friend had done the exact same thing to her boyfriend. how do we show her what she is doing? we have both tried telling her multiple amounts of times but she just says that we dont make sense. so any ideas on how we can make her stop and show her how much damage she is doing? or should we just let it go and let karma get her? please help.
  • Is he flirting with me or just being friendly?

    Singles & Dating - 7 hours ago

    Additional Details

I am friends with this guy that I've hung out with 4 or 5 times. I have a crush on him and it seems like he is always flirting with me. The first time I met him it was cold and he put his arms around me and warmed me up. It seems like every time I see him he hugs me, lays on me ( jokingly), calls me his lover, etc. He gave me his number (but didnt ask for mine) and I texted him so he would have my number. We had a short conversation, only 8 or 9 texts long. I didnt hear from him for about 3 days, and then he texted me last night saying "hey cutie". We had a good 30 minute conversation, and then he just stopped replying. So, does it seem like he is flirting or looking for something more?

Sparkling summer shoes (that glow in the dark!)

I love it when inspiration strikes. For weeks I had a pair of white canvas shoes sitting on my work table. I'd picked them up in a clearance bin to decorate for my youngest daughter (whenever I see plain sun hats, ball caps, shoes, t-shirts, etc. on sale, I buy them. They make great rainy day decorating projects for the kids) but I hadn't come up with a cool way to decorate them.Shoes (Jennifer Roos)

I sat down to work on a different craft, when it all just came together. I grabbed my bottle of glow in the dark dimensional fabric paint and started brushing it onto the shoes. I can't get enough glitter in my life, so I add some of that too. And for the finishing touch, I found some purple butterflies in my odds and ends bin.

Less than an hour later, the shoes were complete. Now my daughter has some very pretty shoes that glitter by day and glow at night.

Grads! You can use the technique below to decorate any fabric shoe (bridal shops sell dyeable fabric shoes that would be perfect). Pick up some dimensional fabric paint to match your dress (it comes in many colours), carefully brush it on the shoes and sprinkle with crystal glitter. Voila!

What you need

  • Canvas slip on shoes
  • Plastic tablecloth
  • Glow in the Dark Dimensional fabric paint (Tulip Green Glow)
  • Paint brush
  • Foam tray (2)
  • Extra-fine crystal glitter
  • Butterfly embellishments (2)
  • Protective glaze (Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze)
  • Shoe repair glue
  • Glow in the dark sparkling summer shoes

Collecting your materials: White canvas shoes can be picked up at many department, shoe, and even craft supplies stores. Glow in the dark dimensional fabric paint is carried in most craft supplies stores. I used Tulip brand Green Glow. For shimmery shoes, pick up extra-fine crystal glitter. Craft and dollar stores have artificial butterflies often used in floral arrangements. Choose two that coordinate with the shoes and paint colour. To help preserve the butterflies, use a protective glaze (brush on or spray, such as Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze), available at hardware, department and craft supplies stores. To attach the butterflies to the shoes, I used shoe repair adhesive. A few other items to have on hand: a plastic table cloth to protect your work surface, a paintbrush, and two foam trays (one for paint and one to catch glitter).

Step One: Cover your work surface with a plastic table cloth. I keep a few of the felt-backed ones for all of my craft projects. They're reusable and don't stick and smudge like newspaper does. Squeeze some dimensional fabric paint onto a foam tray (the kind you get from the bakery). Carefully brush paint onto the clean canvas shoe. Work in sections. Paint a section, and then hold the shoe over a second foam tray. Sprinkle on extra-fine crystal glitter.

Step Two: Continue painting and glittering until the shoe is covered. Repeat with the second shoe. When you're finished, funnel the extra glitter back into the bottle for another day (you can make a quick funnel by rolling up a sheet of paper). Leave the shoes to dry.

Step Three: Because these shoes are for my seven-year-old daughter, and she's particularly hard on footwear, I decided to spray the feather butterflies with a protective glaze to give them a chance at survival. You might want to do this too. First, though, check the butterflies to make sure they're well put together. A bit of hot-melt glue can secure wings etc. Use either a brush-on or spray on weatherproof glaze. I headed outdoors for this step. I slipped on a face mask, spread out another plastic tablecloth in a sheltered spot and sprayed the butterflies with a couple of coats of Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze. I've had great results with this product. Let the butterflies dry.

Step Four: To attach a butterfly to each shoe, I used shoe repair adhesive. This is stinky stuff, but works well. If possible, take this step outside too. Follow directions on the tube. Basically, squeeze a small amount of the adhesive on the underside of the butterfly. Press in place on the shoe. Hold it for a moment until it stays put. Repeat with the second shoe. Let the adhesive dry.

Step Five: Wait at least 24 hours before wearing the shoes.  The dimensional fabric paint needs this long to fully dry. To make the shoes glow, expose them to light.
