Trend forecasters, furniture designers, textile and wallpaper designers are all buzzing about the new appreciation for metallics. Various shades of gold tones from bronze to champagne are making quite a statement on home essentials.
Kohler, one of the popular plumbing manufacturers who are always on the forefront of innovative product design has introduced a line of beautiful gold fixtures for the kitchen and bath. These are not your traditional gold and gaudy fixtures but rather a modern and clean-lined approach to bringing back the allure of the gold finish.
Textiles and wallpaper are also slowly trickling in with their renditions of the gold trends. One of my favourites is the Marcel Wanders wallpaper collection with the gold British inspired regal print on a white background.
When it comes to mixing gold tones with your interiors, if you want to keep the look fresh, combining white and gold is an excellent approach. For a very opulent and dramatic look, combine gold with black. For a vintage approach, consider combining gold with pale pastel tones such as peaches and teal blues, this is exceptionally appealing in a baby's room, in a powder room, or in a room that requires a feminine and glamorous touch.
Bringing gold into your home is very rewarding, in that it helps brighten up your spaces and bring rays of sunshine as well as that touch of glitter and allure that a boring space may be yearning for.
Don't be afraid to mix your metals and metallics, various shades of gold, bronze, and platinum look great together when they are well choreographed in your space. When it comes to the finish and sheen, go for matt, brushed or satin finishes. The high gloss polished look is not what you should be chasing after.
