Small rooms whether a bedroom, a guest room or a kids room
can often get neglected and left out.
There are easy ways that one can begin the design process without
feeling as thought it is a tedious decorating challenge.
Starting a design can be as quick and simple as finding a colour palate that you absolutely love! Go exploring at your local home stores; these are great places for inspiration! Look at their displays and pay attention to their careful grouping of colours and patterns.
When tackling a bedroom there are a few foolproof ways that will help you achieve a great looking space:
1. Begin with the bedding:Find a beautiful set of sheets that will work as stepping point and a design guide for the rest of the room. Don't be scared of patterns and multiple colours. Several colours mixed into one duvet cover can add a burst of freshness to the entire space. Hunt for bargains and end-of-season sets, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great looking bedroom.
2. Pull a paint colour from your bedding; If the colours are bold go for a muted version of one of the tones. If there are multiple colours in the fabric, pick one that is most soothing, be-it a soft yellow or refreshing blue.
3. Find a pair of lamp shades to match:Pick one of the colours in the bedding, most often this should be the dominant colour, and allow that colour to guide you with the rest of your accessories. Lamp shades are inexpensive and a great way to make a statement! Two matching shades will have your room looking like you have thought of every last detail.
4. Accessorize with the dominant colour:
Finding accessories can be easy but finding ones that work within the same tones as your dominant bedding colour may become your fun challenge. Take the time to shop around at various home stores and big box stores. Look for candles, vases and even images and prints that will tie in your tones. Remember that although you dominant colour may be a certain hue, such a green, you don't have to find that exact tone of green you can play with the various shades, in fact this is what will bring interest and character to your space.
5. Drape your windows:Find a neutral tone that works with your bedding or go bold with the dominant tone. Keep your windows simple, busy patterns should be left on the bed! And bear in mind, the days of matching bedding and window coverings shall be left to the roadside motels.
6. Fluff for your finishing touches:Once your room is nearly set, don't forget throw pillows and rugs! Toss cushions in a variety of dominant colour tones and tones that work with your drapes are a great way to tie everything in together. Rugs are also a great way to warm up the space. If the room is small look at getting two small runner on either side of the bed.
