Tasteful mix & match kitchen trends

The kitchen is one of the biggest renovation investments that a homeowner will ever make, and with that said there are plenty of options and choices to select from, so many find themselves at a road block without knowing where to begin and how to decide what is right for them!  I would like to discuss and review the curent design trends in kitchens and the multitude of options and directions one could take with their kitchen.

I think it is certainly safe to say that the days of beige cabinets and dark brown islands are slowly fading away to newer and fresher combinations of colors and finishes.  Although, we certainly shouldn't discard this look completely! And we must continue to give thanks to this once daring combo for setting the stage to merge finishes in kitchen cabinetry.

Painted kitchens are very hot! And doing a paint finish allows you to select any color from a paint fan-deck. Charcoal gray is especially interesting when combined with a natural cream color. Another popular combination that is emerging among many cabinet makers is the combination of solid colors with exotic woods. 

One stylish combo is white lacquered cabinets with a focal piece such as an island or a pantry unit in a zebra wood finish. Keep in mind that it is not only about combining finishes but also about combining styles! Do you like contemporary and traditional but can't decide what approach you'd like to go with? Now you can dare to be different and combine both! Let your base cabinets be a rich chocolate brown with a recessed or shaker door style and let your uppers be a white modern solid slab door. The renown designer Peter Fallico applied this look in his recently aired reno show "Home to Flip." 

The striking combination of the 2 finishes and styles will not only have your kitchen feeling up-to-date for years to come but will also have you enjoying the elegance of both worlds! Combining kitchen cabinet styles and colors is at the height of kitchen trends! Be brave and use this mix and match craze to your advantage!
