Passover, Easter or any other springtime holidays call for some fresh and innovative ideas to creating a memorable dinner party!!
This is the time of year where the weather starts to warm up and home entertaining is back in full swing. So it's time to take your fancy china out of its winter-long hibernation. Nevertheless, it's also time get creative. Simply putting out your posh tableware is just basic and probably not very memorable. The key to a successful dinner party is to create unique elements on the table that will have your guests boasting about your party for days to come.
Here are some of my top five favourite entertaining tips:
1) Keep with the theme. It is important to keep things interesting while still keeping things within a tight and simple color scheme. For example, I was lucky enough to inherit my fine china from someone very near and dear in my family. This gold and guided set is probably not one that I would have chosen myself since it is white and gold, however, I have found creative ways to make it my own with plenty of white accents. On trendier occasions, I pair the gold set with a black tablecloth and matching napkins to achieve a vintage-revival effect with a touch of new glamour!
2) Warming welcome. Be sure to greet your guests at the door with an inviting salute; whether it is a platter of appetizers or aperitifs, a small gesture will go a long way and will certainly help break the ice!3) Make it personal. Whether it's a card, a small gift box filled with goodies or even a personal bottle of wine, it's fun to create something that each person knows is their own, right at the comfort of their reach.
4) The conversation piece. This portion is often a centerpiece, or something unique that you have made yourself and added to the table! Make your centerpiece visual and consider making it edible, from a mountain of chocolate eggs to a tower of matzos. People always love to have something at the table to pick at.
5) Perfume your house. Natural aromas are certainly the way to go. Unplug all your artificial scents and get creative with warm smells that will make your guests feel at home. Old wives tales say to bake some cookies in the oven or have a pot of water with spices and herbs simmering over your stove. These scents will be sure to entice your family and friends while making them feel cosy and relaxed.
