  • Is it possible to have a shared water tank and separate water heaters?

    Maintenance & Repairs - 6 hours ago

    Additional Details

I live in a duplex, where we share a water bill because there is only one tank. We each get separate gas and electric bills though. How is the energy to heat our water separated? Is it possible that one apartment is paying for the heated water of the other unknowingly? Thanks for all the help!
  • Question about metal to metal adhesive. HELP please?

    Maintenance & Repairs - 12 hours ago

    Additional Details

Will give best answer. So, I just broke my mothers candle holder that hangs onto the wall. I broke the piece that holds the nail in place ( its reminiscent of a torch, once you light the candle inside it ). So, I used some nail glue which is basically the same as Krazy Glue and it worked to adhere the pieces together. I hung it back up but i'm worried it might break off. How long will the krazy glue work for METAL on METAL ?

  • How do I decouple an electrical switch into two discrete switches?

    Maintenance & Repairs - 15 hours ago

    Additional Details

In my bathroom, the same electrical switch simultaneously turns on the vanity lights and the little fan in the ceiling. I'd like to rewire it so that each unit has its own switch - one that turns on the lights, and a second switch to turn on the fan. How do I decouple this single switch into two switches? Links and/or diagrams are much appreciated :) Thanks!
  • How do i wire my new thermostat? Ritetemp 6022?

Do It Yourself (DIY) - 16 hours ago

    Additional Details

I'm replacing an old round thermostat with a new ritetemp 6022 digital one. The old wires all matched the slots that their letters were on.. R= Red, W= White, G=Green, B=Blue, and Y=Yellow. 1 thing that was odd, is that on the roof, the white and yellow are connected together. The Red wire deffinately has 24v on it. So, I'm not sure if I set this up for "4 wire Heat/cool" or for "4 wire heat pump w/o aux" So, I took a lot of pictures, and I'm hopefull that someone can tell me exactly. My guess is Red goes to RH, G to G, Y to Y, just not sure if that White to W considering the white and yellow are connected anyways, and then the Blue wire to B? says its for a change over valve? not sure if i even have that. Thanks for the help. Heres the link to the pictures http://picasaweb.google.com/damien59/Ritetemp6022?authkey=Gv1sRgCPyTypevqP6OdA&feat=directlink

Re/Max says house prices have recovered to 2008 levels in many Canadian markets

20090923-Cdn-Real-Estate, 1st Writethru

By THE CANADIAN PRESS

KELOWNA, B.C. - A new Re/Max real-estate survey says house values have recovered in many major Canadian markets to where they were before the market crashed.

The survey found house values are ahead of record highs set in 2008 in seven of the 11 markets surveyed for the real-estate brokerage network. The national average price was $312,585, up 0.5 per cent from a year ago.

Re/Max attributed the recovery to low interest rates, pent-up demand and improved affordability.

The survey was based on information from Canada's major urban centres and may not reflect what's happening in smaller markets.

The market has dropped but sellers perceptions haven't - sellers are not being realistic in their pricing! they are still think that thier homes are worth the same as what they paid for it 2 years ago, they have not come off the 'cloud nine yet' Realtors are over pricing homes at list time then coming back and asking homeowners to reduce. Have your home appraised by a LICENSED APPRAISER people don't trust market evaluations. - just saying.

I totally agree. I also will wait and if prices don’t come down, I won’t buy. I can’t justify spending more to own then to rent the same for less. And not to mention a starter home average price is about $200,000 ppppssstttt….what a joke. $200,000 for a house that should be torn down. WOW!

This must be why I see forsale signs up for months and months. I think I'll wait untill prices come down some more. And if they don't......well then I don't buy. That simple! Guess what, everybody thinks like me so that means prices must come down. No new buyers, surplus builds, prices crash. Just wait and see.

Ya Right.....what a joke. Huge housing slump in my neighborhood. To paint a rosy picture on the Canadian housing market is to be very ignorant or maybe just a desperate homeowner. I have sold realestate for nearly 18 yrs and have never seen such a slump. It was a good ride while it lasted but its over. The sooner we all accept it the better. And only then can we really start to recover from the recession.

PS. Getting sick of hearing about how great the housing market is doing. If it was so great then why all the fuss and telling people they missed out? What a bunch of crap!

BULLSHlT! Just some more propaganda B.S. from realestate related machines. The housing market HAS NOT improved. The numbers have been fudged to look so, but sales are way down and listings are still at record levels. There are more houses listed on the MLS today then any other time in history. The Canadian government has been propping up the housing market for nearly 4 years now and they have done a great job too. Prices are still slipping here but we haven't seen the huge retraction like in the U.S. and U.K. YET. Harper and the bank of Canada have introduced 30, 35, 40 year mortgages, no money down mortgage, cash back mortgage, And now with unsustainably low interest rates the bubble has grown so large that when it does pop it will be much worse then U.S. or U.K. The biggest mistake policymakers and politicians could make at this stage is to continue propping up the asset bubble in the property market in Canada. But that won’t be a choice for Harper coming soon. If he is voted out of office the funding used to prop up the housing bubble will be turned off and it will POP.
