  • I thought they were called chairs?

The computer says that I am "on a roll" but I'm sure it's my chair. It's one of those funny ones that you kneel on, with your knees on a pad and butt on a platform, but it's not a roll, for sure. Who's correct?
  • A very weird issue whenever I do my laundry?

    Cleaning & Laundry - 9 hours ago

    Additional Details

I have been doing my own laundry my laundry since I was about 14 and ever since then I have always had problems. I do the laundry the same way everyone else in the house does and I wear normal clothes, but they continue to only happen to me. My shirts will have ridiculous bleach stains despite the fact that we do not even own bleach. I have done without detergent and this problem still happens. I've switched detergent a million times. What could it be? Then, today, when I pulled my laundry out, there were hundreds, maybe even thousands, of what looked like porcelain/glass/pottery shards in the bottom of my laundry. I do not own anything porcelain so there is no explanation for it. It got in my clothes, and seems to have disintegrated one of my shirts. Only one. Has anyone else ever experienced these issues?
  • Sump pump verus sewage pump.?

    Decorating & Remodeling - 11 hours ago

    Additional Details

We have a septic field and a sump pump in our basement. When we purchased this home in Southern Maryland it had a roughed in 1/2 bathroom in the basement too. We are ready to finish it with a shower, toilet and vanity sink. I discovered that the other two bathrooms on the upper floors, go straight to the septic field and not into the sump pump. Presently the only thing that goes into the sump, that is the washing machine discharge. When the sump gets to capacity its pumped up and into a 4" pipe that by gravity is dumped into the septic field. Someone told me that I would need to change out the sump pump and purchase a sewage pump in its place because most sump pumps do not handle solid waste. Is this true?

Wrapping gifts

If you plan ahead and choose your materials carefully, wrapping presents can be as enjoyable as opening them. These tips will help you make a well-organized gift-wrapping plan, which can save money as well as time.

Wrapping gifts

After-Christmas sales are the perfect time to stock up on paper and trimmings for the following year.

Fill a wrappings box with papers, ribbons, and other embellishments you collect all year long; save bits of ribbons, seam binding, and twine, along with decorative fruit and leaves, and tiny ornaments.

Choose a palette to unify the gifts you wrap—then vary the materials; everything you give will have your signature for the season.

Make gift wrapping less hectic by wrapping gifts as you buy them. Use an adhesive note to identify each gift's recipient, then store the gifts until the holidays. Ribbons and tags are easily crushed, so don't add them until you're ready to display or give.

Use simple, inexpensive materials like tissue paper (we used silver) or kraft paper, then transform gifts with special ribbons and items from your wrappings box. Kraft paper also makes an attractive yet sturdy wrapping for oddly shaped packages.

Wrap oversize packages with a patchwork of pretty paper scraps made with a sewing machine, using a long stitch and a 1/4-inch seam allowance.

Assign each family member a different color paper, and you won't even need gift tags. This is a fun way for everyone to identify his or her presents.

Adorn simple stationery-store tags with ribbon and greenery to make gift tags.
