Tropicals and Houseplants - Brugmansia

Q and A

By Groundskeeper

Question: Monday, March 19, 2001

I bought a Brugmansia at your center at Canada Blooms yesterday and would like to have more info' with regards to exposure, pruning etc. Where could I find some information?

Answer:

Plant this in full sun in well-drained soil. Bring inside for the winter before frost. If you have a solarium you can keep this plant blooming during the winter inside. You can also prune it right back and leave it in a dormant state in the basement (or similar spot) until the following spring (March)Then you will place it in a sunny location, recommence watering and then fertilizing with a 20-20-20 fertilizer. After frost, probably May, place outside once again to bloom its head off through the summer months.
