Drainage

By Groundskeeper

Question: Wednesday, April 17, 2002

We have two galvanized metal containers that we would like to plant with flowers, DO WE HAVE TO CLEAN THESE CONTAINERS WITH ANYTHING BEFORE PUTTING IN SOIL AND PLANTING FLOWERS.THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Answer:

No, but you must put some drainage material at the bottom, unless you make some drainage holes. Place some large pebbles at the base of the container before adding the soil. This will also add stability to the container.
