Question: Wednesday, February 27, 2002
We tried to save our gladiolus bulbs, dusted with fungiscide and placed in peat moss in basement, some survied others dried up, should we have spraying the peat moss to keep it moist, last year we lost everything when we tried to store them in garage. The basement is not that cool. Our cananas and begonias were fine.
Answer:
These bulbs should not be subjected to freezing temperatures so you correct in not leaving them in the garage over the winter. Gladiolus have a tendency to dry out and I would expect a few to do so. You can spritz the moss from time to time but only very slightly.
