Trees and Shrubs - Acer Japonicum

Acer Japonicum (Japanese Maple)

By Groundskeeper

Question: Monday, March 26, 2001

I live outside Halifax, and this winter we had had a lot of stormy weather. Today, I found my 2 year japonese maple broke. Both main branches have been torn off. I have them in water, they're a lot of buds on the branches. The remaining trunk has no branches on it. My question is, is there any way of saving my beautiful tree? Thanks Mark

Answer:

You could be lucky, just leave it and keep a check on the remaining stump for any signs of growth.
