Iris - Overwintering

By Groundskeeper

Question: Monday, November 20, 2000

I have a bed of overcrowded iris (TB's) and want to know if I can dig them up and store them over the winter in peatmoss(?) as I have no place to put the extras - or just throw them away or what? -- help please-- it's getting on to winter.

Answer:

Yes, but protect from below freezing temperatures. To prevent disease, trim foliage to 3-4 inches.
