How many years apart should I have between dividing of hostas? If I cannot find shade to plant the hostas in, what other type of areas would you favour for hostas to grow in?
Answer:
Hostas vary in growth rate and size but as a general rule every four or five years. Blue hostas prefer a shady location or the colour will not be as vibrant. Some of the variegated and golden varieties take quite a bit of sun. Hostas, with some winter protection, will grow quite well in a shady location in a large container, such as a half barrel.
