When dogs urinate on the lawn they are depositing uric acid, which is actually a good fertilizer for the grass. However, too much of a good thing can be bad. Excess urine will burn the grass.
To compensate for the acidity, apply horticultural lime in a granular or liquid form. Plenty of water will leach the acid into the soil away from the plant and also help.
