Weeds - Round-Up

Using Round-Up

By Groundskeeper

Question: Monday, March 06, 2000

I am going to be having a "U" shaped flower garden put into the backyard as a birthday present from my parents. Before the area is plowed, should I look for a reliable grass and weed killing solution like Round-Up, and how much should I use to kill off grass and weeds to keep them out of my flowers, including wildflowers from seeds I bought?

Answer:

Round-Up is a non-selective herbicide and will kill everything it touches and is ideal for removing grass and weeds leaving no residual build-up in the soil. Visible results will be apparent with twenty-four hours and new plantings can be carried out within seven to fourteen days. Check the manufacturer's directions for amounts to be used.
