Question: Tuesday, June 20, 2000
We have just bought a plant called Amsadontea, we were told it was an Annual, but if brought in during the winter and put by a sunny window it would flower all year. We would like to find out more about how to care for it. I've tried everywhere but have not had any luck. It is a tree like plan that has beautiful pink flowers on it. It originally was a bush but was staked and pruned to be tree like. You assistance would be most appreciated.
Answer:
You are probably referred to Anisodontea, which is a small upright South African shrub of the malva family and would be classed as an annual in our colder climate. This plant can happily be transferred to your solarium during the winter months. It requires a sunny position and average moisture. This shrub will grow to a height of 2 to 3 ft. and is often trained in tree form.
