Fall 2007 Decorating Trends

Fall is here and it’s time to turn our homes into havens, where we can curl up and escape the colder weather. To transform your house into a cozy, relaxing nest just in time for the change in seasons, try our tips and ideas.

Forest green
No surprise here; green is THE colour for autumn. Try a darker shade on your walls to add richness to your décor and create an enveloping ambiance. You could also pick up a few accessories in this trendy hue, if a paint job isn’t an option.

Black, white and…transparent!
Everyday items look fresh in black or white…or transparent! Plus, this clear “colour” goes with any décor. It’s the chic look this year, from chandeliers to chairs, and even picture frames.
SKIMMER Candlestick
$12 at IKEA

Go rococo
The rococo style turns up everywhere in the house. These patterns are a simple and inexpensive way to bring an elaborate look to your décor. You’ll find it on curtains, bed covers and rugs—practical and chic!

       Korhani rug, ivory and marine
          $299.99 at Home Depot

Printed murals
Apply this decorative sticker directly to your walls. These no-fuss stencils don’t require any messy painting. Why not choose one with a rococo motif, bringing together two autumnal trends in one product?

Adhesive cotton wall stickers
$48 at Zone

Hanging chandeliers
This trend takes its inspiration from the over-the-top rococo style, with its ornate look. To accentuate the style even more, add wallpaper in a rococo print on the ceiling just above the chandelier.

Lustre Bella
$139 at Home Depot

Rich fabrics
Change your light cotton curtains for velour ones, adding braided ties to hold them in place. Arrange a cashmere throw on the settee and replace the cushions with some fall-friendly ones… and you’re done!
Khaki velour SANELA cushion
$19.99 at IKEA
