Tsehay, a sponsored child who lives in Ethiopia, stands below rows of dried corn that hang from the roof of her rural home. Eruni and her two-year-old brother, Damithu, live in a region of Sri Lanka affected by the tsunami of 2004. As part of a World Vision economic recovery program, Eruni’s mother, who lost her husband in the disaster, attends a widows’ support group. World Vision provided her with a sewing machine to help her sew clothes to earn more income for her family. She uses the money to send Eruni to school.

Kabo enjoys playing soccer in front of his school in the southern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Through the support of Canadian sponsors, World Vision built the primary school where Kabo attends Grade 6 with nearly 300 other students in his community. During a special dance performance, Sewvandi Shamila lights a candle at a community centre in southern Sri Lanka. The centre, built in partnership with World Vision, offers children a safe place to play and learn.
