Santa's Celebrity Helpers Make the Holidays Twinkle!

The famous elves make a big difference!

The holidays are a time for sharing special moments with loved ones, gathering friends and family around to celebrate the season. It’s also a time for giving. And we’ve found some celebrities who are really big givers when it comes to doing for others.

She may be the Material Girl, but Madonna really stays in touch with her charitable side. She has created the charity Raising Malawi to help the small African nation ravaged by disease and poverty. She’s so committed to helping the people of Malawi that she even adopted little David Banda. Her next project is to build the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. The Academy will help, as Madonna says, “transform the African nation of Malawi through education and empowerment of its young women”. Sounds like a smart idea.

Then there is über-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They founded the Jolie/Pitt Foundation and have given away millions of dollars to good causes like the Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders. The glam globetrotters are doing more than just giving away millions. Angelina is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and Brad is busy building 150 affordable, sustainable homes in New Orleans’ Lower Ward 9 – an area devastated by hurricane Katrina.

Other celebs giving of themselves this holiday season are David Beckham who is auctioning himself off for free soccer lessons to benefit the L.A. Academy, an organization he set up to encourage aspiring young athletes. Plus, the likes of the Jonas Brothers, Pink and Bruce Springsteen are all filled with the spirit of giving by taking part in celebrity auctions to benefit very worthy causes.

So this holiday season, while you’re thinking of all those neat gifts you hope to get, remember that old saying, “It’s better to give than receive” and do something special for someone. You’ll feel like a star!

Happy holidays!
