  • When is it okay to have sex after an abortion?

    Women's Health - 10 hours ago

    Additional Details

I just want to know when it would be safe to have sex after an abortion, like how many days/weeks? I'm not all like 'Oh hey I want sex,'I just want to know when it would be safe to have sex. Cause you cannot use tampons or anything after it. UGH. seriously you people are not helpful at all. And I'm married and when I want to have sex with my husband I can! Just because I got an abortion does not mean I'm careless when it comes to sex. It just merely means that my husband and I aren't ready to be parents.

  • I'm scared of vaginas, help??!!!?

Mental Health - 1 day ago

    Additional Details

I'm scared of the female genitals. I'm afraid of the split labia, this has gotten so bad that I cannot change my little girl's diaper when her mother is at work, since I stay home with her. I feel like I will hurt the baby if I try to wipe her during diaper change. I'm also scared of my wife's, and because of this, she laughs at me. I just managed to get intimate with her once, and produced our little girl. IOther than that, I have not been intimate with her anymore. We only kiss and hug. I feel less like a man. How can I get over this phobia?? Just the looks of a woman's genitals makes me afraid. I AM A HETEROSEXUAL MALE though.

Survive sniffle season

When it comes to finding relief for colds and flu, what works -- and what doesn't?

Survive sniffle season

It's that time again -- sneeze and sniffle season. In search of relief for symptoms of flu and the common cold, home remedies have been passed down from generation to generation. But when it comes to the science, what works and what doesn't? The experts weigh in.

Remedy #1: Drink plenty of fluids.
While you can't flush a cold out of your system, experts say, drinking plenty of liquids can help. Water, juice, clear broth or warm water with lemon and honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Hot liquids can also soothe inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.

Beverages to avoid: alcohol, coffee and caffeinated sodas, all of which make dehydration worse.

Remedy #2: Load up on the vitamins.
Much of the scientific research on the effectiveness of vitamin supplements and herbal remedies has produced conflicting or unclear conclusions.

- Vitamin C. While Vitamin C doesn't appear to prevent colds in most people, taking large doses -- up to 5,000 milligrams -- at the first sign of a cold may reduce the severity of symptoms. And lower doses of 200 to 300 milligrams may shorten a cold's duration. So what is the optimum dose? Experts say it isn't clear, but amounts in excess of 2,000 milligrams a day may cause nausea and diarrhea.

- Echinacea. A 2005 National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine study in the United States found that Echinacea did little to prevent or shorten colds. But a more recent study published in the journal Lancet Infectious Diseases (September 2007) found that the herb decreased the odds of getting a cold by 58 per cent and reduced the duration by about a day and a half. (Read the study abstract.)

- Zinc. While the cold-fighting ability of zinc lozenges is yet to be proven, zinc nasal gel may have a positive effect, according to a comprehensive review of zinc studies by the Stanford University School of Medicine. The study was published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases in September 2007. For more, click here.

Remedy #3: Sweat out a cold.
Contrary to the old adage, you cannot actually sweat out a cold, experts say. In fact, too much sweating can lead to dehydration at a time when you need extra fluids. So while you might want to take it easy on the treadmill, you may not necessarily need to stay in bed if you're feeling up for a walk or some moderate exercise.

Remedy #4: Eat chicken soup.
The old standby -- chicken soup -- really does help relieve cold and flu symptoms, scientists say. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and temporarily speeds up the movement of mucus through the nose. This helps to relieve congestion and limits the amount of time viruses are in contact with the nose lining.

No energy to cook? A study at the University of Nebraska compared homemade chicken soup with canned versions and found that some, though not all, canned chicken soups worked just as well as soups made from scratch.

Recalling an article on, "cleaning ear canal" with Hydrogen Peroxide. I have noted on a personal side that when I get blocked ears from a cold or whatever, a simple H202 cleaning seems to lessen cold symptoms. The additional Oxygen introduced in blocked area, I believe kills off the virus.

It's hard to tell; what helps one time, it may not help on the next one! I usually use vitamine C and a lot of fluids. Having a good rest helps also.

Daily,I use a little cayenne pepper in my diet. It's very high in vitamin c and has alot of medicinal properties. Try adding dry cayenne to a glass of hot water. Inhale the vapors to help a sinus head ache or infection. Look it up on line. You'll be amazed what these little suckers can do!

Yes, as anything on the internet, you need to be careful of believing what you read. As for the colds: fluids, vitamins, rest, and attitude are the best cures. Keeping yourself warm, not necessarily sweating, and keeping the fluids draining really does help. Ask any doctor, and you will find this is the standard advice given.

Well, these expert certainly do not know much. For all you know is some dude in his basement writing this stuff. Anyway, I have had a cold so many times and as soon as I have a fever I cover myself with blankets and sweat it out. By the next day, I am feeling 10 times better if not over it already. By the way, blowing your nose often and spitting out mucus out helps healing faster.
