  • Sprained ankle pain - advice?

    Injuries - 17 hours ago

    Additional Details

Hi guys, I'm 99% sure that I sprained my ankle yesterday morning. It didn't notice the swelling until a little while later so I didn't 'RICE' it for about 4-5 hours after the injury. Although I didn't walk on it very much either. It was feeling okay all evening (I continued to use RICE) but now approx, 20 hours after the incident it feels just horrible. Does chronic pain tend to follow after a 1 to 2 mild sprain or should I be worried? Thanks :)
  • just got braces and i can't bite down!?

    Dental - 21 hours ago

    Additional Details

k i literally can't bite down at all no teeth make contact or come close. he put a metal attachment onto the inside of one of my top front teeth so that i wouldn't bite the brackets off. the problem is that i cannot eat anything at all. so i can only have liquids for half a year until my teeth touch...FUCK THAT!!!! and there is noway to get around it it's not like i can just eat soft foods because my teeth won't close it just hits the shelf and it hurts like hell. i can't chew with my front teeth because they're so tensed together, because of the braces, that if i just gently push down on one front tooth itll hurt every tooth in my mouth (cept the molars). also the shelf is only on one tooth and only makes contact with one tooth both of which are very very sensitive teeth. so all my bite power hits 1 tooth against metal and sometimes i forget about it and try to bit down fully which hurts like a mothaf%$ker. i also tend to knee myself in the chin alot (havnt yet so far) but if i hit my chin those teeth are gonna be knocked out like nothing. oh also when i say that i can't eat anything but liquids (drinking) this is not an exaggeration, i can't eat anything whatsoever.
  • I feel so mad? It's so easy just to get me so mad now?

Mental Health - 23 hours ago

    Additional Details

I can't control my anger. When someone makes ME mad like my sister, and then my mom bothers me or anyone else I get mad at them like alot. I can't control it. I think it is because I am recovering from Depression. Cause I told my school councellor about my depression, she told my family and now they've become more "concerned" about me *coughz* giving me NO freedom.. So yeah.. I was alot less "angry" when I was depressed. Because no no gave me special attention and bothered me about things. Now I can't even get mad at things that are little. And worst, it's always with my family. If it is with friends or people that I do not know very much, I never get mad at them. So you can tell how much it is hurting my family. I am ashamed to go to Anger Management classes. Is there any hope for me?
  • How can I last longer from oral?

    Men's Health - 1 day ago

    Additional Details

I can last 30min+ for sex which is fine but I can normally last 5min from my fiance's mouth 10min if I'm lucky. Besides thinking of disgusting things, cause who wants to think about that when your girl is blo*ing you.
  • Ladies would you get your man a fleshlight (not flashlight)?

    Women's Health - 1 day ago

    Additional Details

For those of you who don't know what a fleshlight is google it. For a quick explanation it supposed to be a fake vagina toy for male masturbation. I'm thinking of getting my fiance one since I have some toys and he even got me one but he doesn't have any himself. There's quite a few different kinds of textures so I'm wondering what he would like the most for those of you who have one. I heard that there's some stigma for male toys like they're for losers or something but it's not a big deal for girls it seems. In fact an acquaintance of mine said that men's toys are disgusting. Wonder why this is?
  • Giving a vibe as a sexy gift?

    Women's Health - 1 day ago

    Additional Details

I got my fiance one of those rabbit vibes today from the local sex shop that's supposed to thrust, twist and has a clitoral vibrator. I 'm hoping that she'll like it or at least not hate it. Do you think it would have been better if I took her to the store myself or would this type of surprise be welcome.
  • What is considered high blood pressure for a 15 year old?

Heart Diseases - 1 day ago

    Additional Details

Mine is 140/83. I also have almost all the symptoms of hypertention due to the coarctation of the aorta (dizziness, fatique, shortness of breath, irritability, muscle weakness, increased sweating, cold feet, sometimes chest pain, ect) Is that HBP? and is it possible that i have Hypertention?! thanks :) I'm not looking for any 'Go to the doctor' type answers. If i wanted those answers, i'd just go to the doctor!! I just want opinions, to see if it's worth wasting 2 hours in a waiting room, and wasting so much of my doctors time! Thank you

  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizer: More harm than good?

Infectious Diseases - 1 day ago

    Additional Details

My girlfriend says she was taught at "cooking school" that because it kills non-harmful skin flora along with the viruses and bacteria, hand sanitizer is in fact bad for you in that it decreases your skin's ability to repel the bad bugs. I think this sounds like BS, as it flies in the face of everything we've been hearing from the medical community for years. Anyone care to weigh in?

Good sports!

Spring is a good time to get your kids physically active again. Maybe your child already has a favourite sport that he can’t wait to get started on again. Maybe she never liked sports before now. Either way, it’s important for kids to get started on activities early in life and to encourage them to try new things.

Spring is a good time to get your kids physically active again. Maybe your child already has a favourite sport that he can't wait to get started on again. Maybe she never liked sports before now. Either way, it's important for kids to get started on activities early in life and to encourage them to try new things. Children's physical activity expert and Foundation researcher Dr. Patti-Jean Naylor says: "No one sport develops all physical skills. For building long-term physical activity habits, it's helpful if parents can introduce their kids to a broad set of experiences and skills so when they're older they have choices." As well, trying different sports can help your child be physically active 60 to 90 minutes a day, most days of the week, as well as build life-long physical activity habits early.

Finding a sport
If your kid is already into a certain sport, it can give you clues as to what others she might enjoy. For instance, soccer, football, basketball, and hockey are all sports that require stamina and speed, so if your child excels in one, she might do well at the others. Gymnastics, ice skating, inline skating, skateboarding, martial arts, tennis, soccer, football − all share the skill sets of stamina, body control and coordination. Swimming and basketball are good for kids with strength and stamina.

This can also be a helpful guideline if your child hasn't been engaged in many sports, but shows certain skills such as running, jumping or throwing. You should also consider whether your child prefers to be active on his own or enjoys being part of a team. For kids who prefer to work independently, martial arts, gymnastics, inline skating, skateboarding, swimming or bicycling might be better choices than team-sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse and rugby.

Choosing the right league and level
Before signing up, talk to your child about whether he would like something that's competitive or casual. If your child has already been on a team, find out from the coach what his personal skill level is. This will help you choose the right spot for your child − challenging, but not overwhelming. "If children are challenged at the right level of difficulty, it can increase motivation," Dr. Naylor says. House leagues or intramurals are usually a good starting point, while travel or representative leagues are better for more competitive and advanced players.

Ensuring equal play
One of the most discouraging things to a kid just starting out is to be picked last or put on a bench almost the entire game. Equal play ensures all participants get the chance to play in the game for a similar amount of time. This also means that teams (particularly house leagues) are chosen at random and are not a practice in favouritism, either by the coach or the other players. This may be important if your child is shy or hasn't played any sports before. That's why it's also very important that you attend games regularly to make sure that everyone is being treated fairly and equally. Discuss the idea of equal play with the sport's coach to make sure he or she shares your view. "Many sports organizations have rules about playing time in the early years. One of the reasons for sharing equal play time is that kids are developing at different rates early in life, and development of skills depends on spending enough time doing it," says Dr. Naylor. "You don't know who will become an athlete, and at that age, kids need to develop their belief in their own abilities. You want them to have fun, to participate, but also to master the skills so they can feel successful. Sitting one child on the bench while playing another for longer can make the non-participant feel like she is not competent. You want to make sure your child has enough opportunity to succeed."
