    Diet & Fitness - 12 hours ago

    Additional Details

I'm just wondering because i went to the gym today, did back and biceps. and for biceps i did 3 sets of 8 reps standing curls, 3 sets of 8 reps preacher hammer curls, seated curls, 3 sets 8 reps, than i did preacher curls 3 sets 8 reps than finally i did normal hammer curls. also 3 sets of 8 reps. was that over doing it? and can overdoing it fail to gain muscle mass/definition? Okay, yes I was seriously asking. I weigh 132 lbs, I'm 15. I was using, 35's at first and I went as low as 20's for some things. And my calorie intake was pretty good today, I had a protein shake after my workout too.

  • Wisdom tooth erupting and hurting as heck. Is that normal?

    Dental - 18 hours ago

    Additional Details

One of my lower wisdom teeth, which have started erupting a while ago is suddenly hurting a lot. The gum around that tooth is sore and swollen. I don't think it is impacted because I had a dental x-ray done a couple years ago and was told that all 4 of my wisdom teeth are growing straight so it isn't necessary to remove them. I also had 4 of my normal back teeth pulled out for braces when I was young so the wisdom teeth have got space to grow. I'm not sure what is causing the pain but I've been told that the pain may be normal during the eruption of wisdom teeth. Will the pain go away after a while? What other reasons apart from impacted teeth can cause such pain? I have my finals coming up in less than a week so I won't be able to go to the dentist and end up with sore cheeks unless it's something persistent and serious. Thanks! That really helped. At least I don't have to worry about getting my tooth removed for the time being. As for taking ibuprofen, is there a recommended dose for this infection in particular?

    Women's Health - 21 hours ago

    Additional Details

My doctor called me yesterday to tell me that my pap test came back, I've had pap tests every 6 months for the past 3 years but didn't make it to my last test in April because I was out of the province, so I went last month. Theres been abnormal cells on all my other tests but now my doctor is sending me to a Gyno because he said that their concerned about the Squamous Cells, I was kinda too nervous to ask questions but he did mention a test that I'm going to have to have he said its like a pap test but with mircoscopes! I have no idea what any of this is, never been to a Gyno, and never heard about half this stuff! Has anyone already been through the same experience? I have no clue when my apt is, just waiting for them to call but it could be a couple months.......I'm 25 years old, with a 3 year old and pretty stressed out right now, I know it doesn't help to stress and my husband tells me not to worry about it but I can't help it, I just need to know stuff! Does anyone know what is gonna go on now? The doctor mentioned a test called a Colopscopy, something about a pap test with a microscope....... My family doctor does alot of the stuff a gyno does, where I live you dont go to a gyno unless referred, My doctor does Pap Tests, delivers babies, and takes care of u while your pregnant right up to delivery.

Defuse your temper

Walk away from stressful situations with these expert tips.

By Dana Lacey

One, two, three... Your blood's boiling, and counting to ten just isn't cutting it. But that doesn't mean that blowing up is your only other recourse. Three yoga instructors offer their tips for walking away from stress and tension and restoring your sense of calm.

When dealing with... difficult people

Whether it's a hard-to-please friend or a disparaging mother-in-law, . Sometimes, just the anticipation of stress can cause anxiety, says Lilian Bianchi, a yoga instructor and the owner of Namaste Yoga Studio in Duncan, B.C. Taking a walk every day, preferably at the same time, and finding a quiet spot where you can sit uninterrupted for ten minutes can do wonders for your stress levels. "Concentrate on two of your special qualities," says Bianchi, "and give yourself credit for two things you have done well." It won't be long before your tension eases, and you're thinking clearly about what to do next. "Remind yourself that people's strong opinions and judgements often come from their own distorted perceptions," adds Bianchi "What you think of yourself is more important then how others think of you."

When dealing with... family squabbles

"Don't forget, kids feel stress too," says Susan Dupois, who teaches yoga, meditation and laughter at the Sacred Tree Yoga studio in Brandon, Manitoba; she's also a mother of two. Crankiness is sometimes a symptom of kids' tension, explains Dupois - losing your cool will only exacerbate the situation. Instead, "when the fighting escalates, start laughing," she says. "Even if it's a fake laugh, don't stop." Mom's crazy behaviour will distract your kids from their argument - and they might even join in. "You don't even have to deal with whatever they're bickering about," she says. The added bonus? "All that extra oxygen caused by laughing will help ease a headache," lessening your own tension.

When dealing with... work stress

Feeling the pressure? When things get heated at work, there's a lot at stake. To effectively manage stress, "you must be able to control it," says Claire Halpern, a yoga instructor and owner of Starfish Yoga in Halifax. Sure, you're upset, but you also must be professional - not an easy task. Breathing exercises can help you ground yourself when you're emotional. "Find a place where you can be alone; a bathroom stall will suffice," says Halpern. Sit with your back straight and gently place your right index and middle finger against your left nostril, and your right thumb against your right nostril. Holding your thumb down, slowly breath in through the left nostril, gently pause, then exhale through your right nostril. Do this five times, then switch hands and repeat. "Visualize something non-material in your life that you cherish, like a loved one, a favourite spot or a good memory," she says. "Remember how important that is and keep that in your mind when you go back to work."

I don't think genetics or nationality has anything to do with person's temper. But I did find this helpful.
