Mental Health - 15 hours ago

    Additional Details

It's a pathetic question, I know. But, seriously. I have two younger brothers who are horrible to me. They will call me fat, talk about tampons, call me ugly, and stupid to my face. It's terrible, and it's really hurting me. Honestly, it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't do it where they do it. I'll be walking to the bus, and they will put down the window and yell in front of EVERYONE, "Hurry up fatty!" Or, "Run, bitch, run!" It's embarrising. How can I stop it form hurting me so much? I have come home crying the past two days, and I'm stuck. I don't know what to do. Please help me :(

  • Do I have the right to insist on starting treatment regardless of what the doctor wants?

    STDs - 16 hours ago

    Additional Details

I've got HIV and Hep C from idu, infected in 2006 diagnosed 2009. My CD4 count is 450 and T8 ratio is .33 unknown VL (they've continually screwed up the tests as results are time-limited and the nearest lab that can handle it is over an hour away) I want to start treatment on HAART immediately as from every study I've read & from talking to people I know who are similarly afflicted that guidelines are about to change at a CD4 count of 500 soon. I live in a rural, conservative area, and the specialist is no different, to her if the book says 350 then treatment should be withheld until it reaches that point,. Knowing how I feel physically and from symptoms that have begun to appear I think it's best to begin right away. Do I have the right to insist on treatment regardless of what she thinks?

If you feel thirsty but can't seem to quench your thirst no matter how much you drink, eat something SALTY. Problem solved!

Drinking too much plain water especially in athletes can cause serious medical problems. I had a relative that was visiting a desert and all she drank water bottle filtered water. She became very ill and had to be taken to the hospital. I on the other hand drank too much water all the time years ago and had a water induced psychosis. We need the slats and minerals in our bodies to keep us healthy, too much water such as plain water fasting can be dangerous. http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/hydrationandfluid/a/Hyponatremia.htm

I have not been convinced about the turkey! When I eat a turkey dinner, I do get sleepy, before the desert, and even without the wine. Mmmm I wish I could eat turkey dinner right now! Tryptophan is very helpful in a persons diet, it acts like an natural antidepressant. Studies have also proven that it lowers aggression in males. Pumpkin seeds have really high amounts of trypophan, I used to eat high amounts and it would help me relax. Don't take my word for it, look it up! According to a graph I just looked at, turkey does contain more tryptophan than beef or chicken! Who wrote this article anyway! http://www.dietaryfiberfood.com/tryptophan-sources.php

It's interesting to see how many of you still cling to the belief that you need to dring those 8 glasses of water a day. I've known for years that it's not true but when you try to tell that to most people they practically shove their fingers in their ears and go "LaLaLaLaLa - I can't hear you!" And I see it's happening in here too! Idjits!

The myth about cell phones interferring with equipment is NOT A MYTH..I work in the hospital and often have my cell phone in my pocket, whenever I am around equipment the equipment starts buzzing and you can see interference in the screens. The same thing happens with my lap top, and many others I have work with report the same thing. I stand behind ONLY using cells in certain areas in the hospital..It may not kill people, but it does interfere with equipment.

Given that too many people have a short attention span and limited comprehension, myths thrive. Hydration IS important. The "6-8 glasses of water" suggestion is certainly a guesstimate. If anyone causes themselves harm by over-hydrating or under-hydrating rather than listening to their bodies and abiding by the "Golden Mean", then I say "good" . . . it's called "thinning the herd".

Drinking lots of water is important, but you don't have to drink 8 glasses a day. I think I read somewhere that water is also contained in the food you eat, so you don't have to drink a lot.

I'm not much of a water person and only drink it when I need to. I heard the same story about how many glasses of water to drink each day. Instead of filled the glasses with wine. I must admit a felt much better.
