  • Masturbation linked to cycle?

    Women's Health - 21 hours ago

    Additional Details

Hey everyone! I'm 17 years old and ever since I was a wee 11 years old, my period has been 5 days long, with a 28 day cycle. However, my period has come a full week early this month, and the only thing I've changed is that I've started to masturbate. Could this have triggered my period to come early? Should I stop if it's going to mess up my cycle? Thanks!
  • I got my tooth filled on monday, it's friday. How long should it hurt?

    Dental - 1 day ago

I had a big cavity filled on Monday. Dentist said it might still be sore...Well I didn't feel much the first night but the next day it did hurt when I bit on something. I ate pretty carefully for the rest of the week but I did eat on that side of my mouth. ..Yesterday in the evening it started to hurt! I had to take an advil.. and I was careful with it again today but this evening it is hurting again. Feels like a tooth when you have sensitivity and cold has been put on it..but it's not dissapating and I'm taking my second advil today. Do you think it should still hurt? Maybe I chewed on it too soon and it will be sensitive for a few more days? I have read that it could be up to 2 weeks hurting and some people say no it should not hurt. .I would call the dentist but they are not open till monday. Anyone know??? Thanks!
  • How do I get rid of the "fantasies" I have where I get hurt?

Please, don't call me psychotic. I just need some advice as to where to go from here. I'm currently 14 and female (in case you couldn't tell by the name or photo ;) ). I think I remember things really starting when I was 11. But ever since I was little, I would love to see the hospital scenes on the TV. Like if someone was in the hospital, I always wanted to see it. In fact, I would sometimes (and even up until recently did) make up scenes where a certain character I favour is saving the day and ends up injured or something like that and everyone pays attention to him/ her. But I also remember this starting when I was 11: I would always make up stories in my head where I was the victim. It got worst when I was probably 12 or 13. I would complain over minor things to people whose attention I 'craved'. For example, if I got a sore wrist, I'd wear a tensor bandage. Or if my knee hurt, I'd go get ice, even though it was probably just a growing pain. Most of the time it was in my head though. Like thinking about what it would be like if I had to tell a certain person I had cancer or something. At the age of 13 (in my summer before 8th grade) I decided this is enough. I have to stop this type of thinking. It is not normal. I read that building your self confidence could help. So I tried that and within hiurs, the fantasies had no more appeal. Before I continue, you should note that I like these fantasies, they're not something I exactly dread. But when I'm making up one of the stories in my head, I really enjoy it. I do dislike the fact that I enjoy it and I am aware that this is not normal. But despite my confidence efforts, they came back. One slip up where I said "It's okay, it's been a bad day, you can think about one of your stories" leads to two, which leads to three and sooner or later I'm back to the abnormal fantasies. I was doing really well since I started high school in September. I had maybe a few days where they came back. And once in a while where they had little or no appeal. But a week ago I felt like I was going to pass out in class one day, I didn't tell anyone until that evening but after that they came back. I am currently in a state where they are somewhat appealing to me. So I once asked this question on an alternate account. (This is also an alternate account, my friends cannot see this question, but I will still choose a best answer). One girl said she was 21 and still had these types of fantasies. I was thinking I could still live with them, but I realize I shouldn't. I have dreams for my future. My job, my family, all that stuff. But when I think about it I don't want that perfect future I have planned to be plagued with these sick thoughts. I don't want to have them. It makes me feel embarassed to even think about myself. I can't confront anybody about it because I am so ashamed. I know I should see a therapist of some sort, but 1. I don't know how I'd approach him/ her 2. I don't know how to ask my mom about that or how to keep it private and 3. I don't want to be said to be mentally unstable or something and be put in a mental institution. So what would be advisable to do from here?

9 indicators of long life

Get a grip -- and a good education. Get married. Don't gain weight.

These are some of the keys to long life for boomer men, according to a US study.

In fact, nine factors in all were identified as good predictors of which 50-plus men would live healthily into their 80s and beyond, according to a 40-year study of nearly 6,000 Japanese-American men living in Hawaii. The study, published in the November issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, concluded men were more likely to remain healthy, vigorous and disability-free at older ages, if they avoided certain risk factors.

The ability to avoid these 9 major risk factors in midlife -- in particular those linked to insulin levels such as overweight, high blood sugar, high triglycerides (a type of cholesterol) and high blood pressure -- is a strong indicator of whether you will survive to old age and if you do, whether you will be healthy.

9 Predictors of long life

Men who meet the following criteria are more likely to live longer, according to the study:

- Are married
- Are not overweight
- Have low blood pressure
- Possess a strong grip (indicating overall strength and fitness)
- Have attained a high level of education
- Have low blood sugar
- Avoid heavy drinking
- Do not smoke
- Have a low level of bad cholesterol.

The study, known as the Hawaii Lifespan Study, followed the health of participants for up to 40 years to assess overall, healthy, or exceptional survival. The men in the study, who had an average age of 54 when the research began back in 1965, were given a baseline exam at the time and found to be free of illness and functional impairments.

As reported by Reuters, men who followed the healthful criteria had an 80 per cent chance of living to age 80 and were more likely to avoid illness. 42 per cent of the participants lived until 85, with 11 per cent reaching the age without serious health problems such as heart disease, cancer or diabetes.

"Your chances were more than 60 per cent of being healthy at that age if you avoided these risk factors, yet if you had six or more of these risk factors you had less than a 10 per cent chance of living in your mid-80s," said study author Dr. Bradley Wilcox of Pacific Health Research Institute in Honolulu.

This is further proof that it is important to be physically robust in midlife consistent with theories of aging that suggest that better built organisms last longer, the study concluded.

Without quality, quantity is meaningless. Defining quality is however not as simple as it sounds. Seen older people unable to recognize their own children most of the time, in need of having their diaper changed by others, while in a wheelchair. Add hearing problem and heavy duty glasses to be able to see anything and yet looked happy and content most of the time. Not for me. Lifestyle choices in moderation, including so called unhealthy foods. alcohol, smoking and others is OK regardless of some "advice" otherwise from others. Born, live and die. Nothing will change that. So called bad lifestyle choices in moderation will have small impact and can be even positive for many.

Wow…it’s amazing what 50+ men of tropical Hawaii can achieve & look forward to, according to the Hawaii Lifespan Study. Odd, that it doesn’t mention anything about sun protection though. I guess this U.S. lifestyle is to overshadow the long reigning king of the American Playboy philosophy. To bump & grind Bunnies. Smoke & booze at parties & in the pool. Always be wearing a smoking jacket when entertaining Playmates. And never have the intentions of marrying. Be the Bachelor. Now, if this were a study for women, perhaps it would state...They not chemically dye & ruin their natural hair. Don't wear mounds of toxic make-up on natural skin. Don't shellac their natural nails with poisonous paint. Don't glue on the fake eagle claws either. Forget the false eyelashes too. Say no to surgical implants or injections anywhere on their natural bodies. Instead... get married to one of these healthy, easy going, fun time Hawaiian dudes. Don't forget to slap the sunscreen on each other in shake & bake Hawaii.

QUOTE: from Dave K: "What a waste of a click. It's common sense. No big secrets to reveal. The being married one is a joke. My grandma is 95 and her husband died when she was 34. And?" And...that just means the old wench ended up having dozens of live-in boyfriends. And if she had some "horney' genes, that means you must have inherited some. Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge. How did her husband die by the way? That's the unsolved mystery. Wink. Wink. Nudge! Nudge!

I don't want to get too darn old..I saw my Parents go through the "Golden Years"....highly overrated in my opinion! Really! Who in their right mind wants to end their days in an Old Folks Home? You can't do this....you can't do that....no thanks!

Studies show that married men are happier than single men, which might account for the overall well-being of living longer....also men who divorce or who become widowed, are twice as likely to remarry compared to widowed women. From the studies I've read on men/marriage, (and these were from articles I read when I took 'Sex and Gender psych classes) it seems that men benefit more from marriage than women do.

It's not how long you live, but how well you live. My parents are 80 and happily married for 55 or so years (judging form my age). They care about people and they are adorably aging. They go for walks both with white hair. They live in moderation with everything. Just to share...
