Californian Turkey Burgers

1. Ingredients

  1. 1 lb (500 g) ground turkey
  2. 1/2 cup (125 mL) finely chopped red onion
  3. 1 egg, beaten
  4. 2 tbsp (30 mL) breadcrumbs
  5. 2 tbsp (30 mL) chopped fresh coriander
  6. Pepper
  7. Tabasco sauce
  8. Worcestershire sauce
  9. 4 to 6 hamburger buns
  10. Canadian Gruyère cheese slices
  11. Tomato slices
  12. Dill pickle slices Yogurt and Coriander Sauce 1/2 cup (125 mL) plain yogurt
  13. 2 tbsp (30 mL) finely chopped tomato
  14. 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  15. 1 tbsp (15 mL) chopped fresh coriander
  16. 1 tsp (5 mL) horseradish
  17. 1 tsp (5 mL) Dijon mustard
  18. Salt and pepper

2. Cooking Directions

  1. In large bowl, combine ground turkey, onion, egg, breadcrumbs and coriander. Season to taste with pepper, Tabasco sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
  2. Form into 4 to 6 even patties. Cook on lightly oiled grill over medium-high heat for 6 to 8 minutes. Just 2 minutes before patties are done, top each burger with 1 slice of Canadian Gruyère cheese.
  3. Close barbecue lid and continue cooking. Lightly toast buns. Serve burgers with tomato and pickle slices, and top with yogurt and coriander sauce. Serve with green salad or home-made French fries.
  4. Yogurt and Coriander Sauce:
  5. In small bowl, mix all ingredients and season to taste. Keep in refrigerator.

Yield: 4 to 6 servings

    Sides I am making are: •Creamy corn casserole •Cheesy vegetable casserole •Homemade mac and cheese •Loaded mashed potatoes Thank you:) The vegetable casserole has a few different colors when mixed- Green, orange, and white. The loaded mashed potatoes has large pieces of bacon and scallions on top. But I see what you mean.

    Here's the thing, each year our whole family gathers together and does different dishes for Thanksgiving. This year, I thought I'd give the little Turkey guy a try.
