  • What to do for friend on anniversary of her father's death?

    Friends - 4 hours ago

    Additional Details

My best friend's father was murdered three years ago, and the anniversary of his death is coming up in the middle of November and I was trying to come up with some ideas as to what I could do for her and her family. I'm very close with them, but it's hard to think of something, given the situation. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could do? Thank you! WHOA. Some people are taking a nice gesture as something mean. There's a nice way to explain how you feel, making someone feel as if they're doing something bad, when only trying to help, isn't it. I in no way shape or form meant as a way to "celebrate" I simply only wanted ideas as to what I could do for her that day to get her mind off of it.

  • Should I make my Mother suffer?

    Family - 6 hours ago

    Additional Details

I hate my Mother. She's not abusive or anything, but she doesn't understand me neither the rest of my family. I want to get revenge. I want to make her suffer because she wouldn't let me and my brother order food as there's nothing much left in the fridge. She thinks there's more food for us in the fridge, but we both don't agree with her. Another thing is she doesn't think I'm grown up enough to go to the doctor even though I'm trying so hard. I hate her so much. I will make her suffer by hurting myself. I hate her! I hate her! I hate her! How could I say that? Now I'm such a terrible person. It's just that I wish she appreciate me even more instead of saying that my drawing is okay. Then she is looking down on me. What should I do to make her even more happier?

  • I just came up with another question! Who should I talk to about this?

    Family - 6 hours ago

    Additional Details

I have a situation (That is explained here- http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuA07LpmAMQOBK5CW8QxuAjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091107140823AAefcGP ) in which I would like to talk to someone about. If you read it you'll know I obviously can't talk to my mom about. My dad and my grandma are just out of the question as well. So who would you guys think to be a good person to talk about this between the following: My sister who knows (younger sister) My older and much more reasonable sister (She doesn't know and I am afraid if I tell her mom might figure out I told her and that would not be pretty) My youth minister (I am a bit unsure about him because I don't know if this information should only be circulated in the family) Or should I only rely on people I don't know online like I am now? I would really love to talk to someone who won't leak the info that I told them back to my mom and who would be understanding and willing to talk to me about this, because this really hits me hard. This is like one of the biggest things I have ever learned of in my life. When I say younger sister I mean younger of my two older sisters

The magic of honey

"Hi, honey!" That happy greeting may also apply to the yellow-capped squeezie bear in your pantry, since the contents are good for so much more than sweetening tea. Honey is a natural antiseptic, moisturizer and, thanks to all its antioxidants, an age-fighter too.

"The high concentration of sugars gives honey germ-killing power, which is why it's been used for thousands of years to encourage wound healing," says New York City dermatologist Amy Wechsler, MD, our RealAge skin expert. Honey's thick, sticky consistency also makes it a natural protective salve, sealing out infection and creating a moist healing environment within. Use it in a pinch, Wechsler suggests, if you develop blisters on a camping trip and remembered your honey packets but forgot the Neosporin.

Honey is a terrific moisturizer for the face and body, too. "Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it draws 'free water' from interior tissues to the surface layers of the skin," says Wechsler. That subtle fluid shift creates a plumping effect that temporarily improves the appearance of wrinkles--handy before a morning presentation or a big night out.

To see for yourself, try this moisturizing honey mask, which Wechsler says also sooths dry, sensitive, or irritated skin:

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of whole milk.
  • Warm slightly in the microwave.
  • Smooth the mixture onto the face and lie down for 10 minutes (relaxing, plus it avoids sticky drips).
  • Rinse off with warm-not hot-water.

If you prefer a more cosmetic form, store shelves are swarming with honey-enhanced beauty products such as BeeCeuticals Organics' Honey Thyme Hand and Body Lotion, which is made from unfiltered, organic, nonirradiated honey ($9.95 for 8 oz. at www.healthfromthehive.com). It's made to be gentle enough to use even on psoriasis or eczema. And Benefit's Honey...Snap Out of It Scrub ($23 for 5 oz. at www.benefitcosmetics.com) has honey, vitamin E, and crushed almonds. Leave it on for three minutes and you've got a soothing and smoothing honey/almond mask.

As for the age-fighting effects, all types of honey contain antioxidants that appear to block skin-cell damaging free radicals, though dark honeys--particularly the honeydew and buckwheat varieties (check health-food stores)--have more of them than paler clover honeys. While there's still a debate on how effective antioxidants are when applied to the skin, Wechsler gives the thumbs up to swirling dark honey into your yogurt every morning. "It's a simple way to nourish your skin from the inside." Sweet.

I have tried the remedy of Honey mix for sun burn to second degree burns on my knees while fishing and the burning sention went away and left no skin peel there after. This is my wife mom remedy as she was raised on a farm and all the old remedies without pharmacytical prescriptions worked better. Honey heals swollen eyes accompanied with cucumbers over the honey mix for ten minutes. I personally eat honey when I wake up in Am to stop the itchy throat I have form smoking. It also stops any stomach ailments I have from acid indigestion. and then some. My daughter uses it to heal some ackny when her periods are near.
