  • "it's your emotions, you're the one who should be dealing with it not me"?

would you feel offended if someone you like says that to you after telling that person you like him/her? or would you think, in the end, it's nicer because he/she doesn't want you to have false hope compared to him/her beating around the bush? I seem to have shocked a person in another section when I have given that as an answer to a particular question. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AskDIAHaHSudjOJ0SDu3hSHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091122002142AA820Bd&show=7#profile-info-bxDa4SKBaa

Five foods that fix bad breath

Posted Tue, Nov 10, 2009
POST A COMMENT »
Last night, the tacos smothered in onions were great, but this morning your breath could fell a sumo wrestler.

What to do? When your breath has been turned toxic by smelly foods -- usually garlic, onions, or curry, but fish and cheese can do a number too -- you need an air freshener for your mouth. And often: every 30 to 60 minutes until whatever it is has cleared out of your bloodstream, which sometimes can take up to 24 hours. Since brushing constantly is impossible, try countering offending foods with what's likely to be handiest: other foods.

1. Lemons. Suck on a lemon wedge or nibble on the rind -- easy to do in restaurants, where there's often a citrus garnish and if not, you can order sparkling water with lemon. For other times, lemon-flavored hard candies work just as well and are totally portable.

2. Parsley and other green garnishes. When your favorite garlic-laden pasta dish or onion-topped burger arrives with a few sprigs of parsley on the side, consider it a hint, not just eye appeal. Chewing on the sprigs afterward releases parsley's pleasant, breath-freshening oils. Garnishes of fresh basil and rosemary work too.

3. Apples and other crisp-fresh foods (firm pears, carrots, jicama). They're high in fiber, all that chewing ups saliva production, and the combo acts like a scrubbing rinse for your mouth. Sweet.

3. Crunchy spices. For a more exotic solution, pick up some anis, cardamom, coriander, and/or fennel seeds in your grocery's spice aisle. Mix equal parts in a small covered bowl and keep on the dining room table next to the salt and pepper. Chewing on a few seeds will release enough oils to sweeten after-dinner curry or coffee breath. And your mouth will taste amazing.

4. Mint sprigs or cinnamon sticks. Either of these deliciously potent flavors will squelch the sulphurous scent of onion or garlic. Plus, an essential oil in cinnamon kills a nasty type of oral bacteria, should they be aiming to set up house in your mouth. Cinnamon or mint gums are just as effective. If you pick a gum sweetened with Xylitol, it will freshen breath and help reduce cavities -- smart if you're a gum lover. Bonus: Long-term good oral care can actually make your RealAge more than 6 years younger.

5. Berries and yogurt. If you can't get through most days without indulging in foods that are hardly breath-friendly, eat for prevention -- even better than a cure. Consuming a half-cup of plain, sugar-free yogurt twice a day can lower mouth levels of hydrogen sulfide (yes, that rotten egg smell). Berries (and melons, oranges, and other fruits high in vitamin C) also deter stinky mouth bacteria. Start and end the day with a fruit cup topped with a big dollop of yogurt and you might never have to worry about bad breath again.

More yogurt, more cholesterol and fat; I'll stick with the other solutions as more healthy and happy. Don't fool yourself, all the evidence is in: animal foods, processed foods and processed fats (vegetable oils etc...) kill at a higher rate than smoking.

Bad breath isn't just from the foods we eat. It can be an indicator of gum disease, decayed teeth, stomach ulcers, or stomach cancer. It bad breath doesn't go away, it's time to have it checked out.

Flossing and brushing (tongue and sides of mouth) help too. But I like the apple and pear points...they taste good too! I'm heading out to get some organic pears right away!! :)

rubbing turmeric powder on your gums helps fight gum weakness and bleeding for those sensitive gums.and gurgling with salt water( dont use conventional table salt but more of the natural grey ones found from the health store, prefably celtic salt for good results). A drop or two of oregano oil is terrific for those breath problem as well. Avoid chewing gum,you are only sucking on sugar and / or artificial sweetener in the long run this contribute to your bad breath and gum trouble.SMILE.

Try Therabreath products, especially the concentrate rinse. Have to use a while to see real effects and use only those products. I don't sell this stuff, but use it. My breath was unbearable! Tried all else w/o results. The toothpaste seems expensive but it lasts forever.

Hey everyone, just to let people know, anatomically, there is an area in your throat called the larynx. In that area, there are two spaces, called the Valecula and the Piriform Recess. They look like clefts where food and stuff can get caught (It's actually a common place where fishbones get caught). Well interesting, this is a common area for bacteria to grow and hence cause bad breath. So, a great idea for chronic bad breath is to gargle with listerine or any other mouth wash. You won't regret it and neither will your mate!

I think the advice about chewing on a citrus garnish in a restaurant is bad advice. First, if it isn't grown organically then there's probably a lot of pesticide residue within and on the surface the skin. The skin is precisely where pesiticides concentrate! Second and I say this having experience in the restaurant biz) as a consumer you should be aware that the lemon was probably not well washed, if it was washed at all. I'm fairly well-read and aware of many diverse food safety issues, and I must say that Robert M's comments didn't strike me as being ill-informed at all. Conventionally raised animal food products are nutritionally suspect on many levels, include their toxicity levels and questionable long-term nutritional value. Be careful of trusting the information dispensed by those powerful meat and dairy marketing boards and councils! Their 'information' isn't exactly neutral or impartial, and always depicts the sunny side of their products. That's clearly in their interest to make sure of that! Who speaks up for your concerns? Journalists tend to rely on these very sources of information, reclycling it into 'content' disguised it as 'news'. Generally I question the advice I read in such forums as this one (including the advice I've given you) and do my own research from diverse and divergent sources.

And after you've sucked a lemon down to the rind, be sure to take a swig of water to rinse out your mouth. Lemons are very acidic and, if you suck them often enough, you will dissolve some of the enamel off your teeth. You can also protect your enamel (and your gums too) by using low/non-abrasive toothpaste and a softer bristled brush. Once the enamel is gone, you'll find your bones are yellowish.

Most halitosis originates from the STOMACH and from rotting teeth. Every now and again you run into one of these folks and it's like slamming into a brick wall of Halitosis.

The image used in this article is inappropriate-- a white hand covering a black face. This is totally unacceptable. Images like this are perceived to be rascist and if so, that is the intention of the editorial staff. Who is responsible for this content? Perhaps the Ontario Anti-Racism Secretariat should be made aware of the liberties taking by Rogers Communications?

SEE THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH RACISM!: I saw a few comments nagging the picture, I am white and i didnt even freaking notice that it was a black person and white hand. If you black people would just shut the hell up and stop b*tching about racism, we would hardly even see things as racist. Pointing out racism just makes it more noticable, and thus, more public. If something doesnt appear racist to 90% of the population, then it probably isnt very racist, and thus, stop drawing attention to it and just read the damn article

Mar, call me old fashioned but I still believe that impressions matter. As a psychologist, I can confidently infer that whoever put the picture up is subconsciously racist(well aren't we all). I suggest impression management on the internet to avoid getting people offended. The people in the display photo should have been the same race. I arrest my case.
