Use our calorie-count cheat sheet to avoid tipping the scales this holiday season

It's expected that over the holidays, most of us swap our stringent diet regime for weeks of gluttonous indulgence-the average Christmas dinner contains about 4,000 calories! Avoid tipping the scale by using our calorie-count cheat sheet of ten of your holiday favourites and what it takes to burn them off.

1. 1 glass of eggnog
Calories: 343
Burn It Off: An hour dancing (really kicking up your heels)

2. A handful of mixed nuts
Calories: 245
Burn It Off: 40 minutes of shoveling snow

3. 2 glasses of wine
Calories: 250
Burn It Off: An hour of yoga (Ashtanga or Vinyasa)

4. Six appetizer-size meatballs
Calories: 280
Burn It Off: A 45-min kickboxing class

5. 1 6oz serving of turkey
Calories: 350 calories
Burn It Off: An hour of ice-skating

6. 1 cup of stuffing
Calories: 400
Burn It Off: 40 min of running (10 min/mile)

7. 1 cup of candied sweet potatoes
Calories: 400
Burn It Off: An hour of biking

8. 1 cup of mashed potatoes
Calories: 350
Burn It Off: A three-mile walk (50 min)

9. 3 tablespoons of gravy
Calories: 150
Burn It Off: 15 min of running (10min/mile)

10. 1 large slice of pecan pie
Calories: 500
Burn It Off: An hour-long Spinning class
