Health-focused New Year's resolutions that were so imperative one month ago may be dismissed in February as Super Bowl snacks and Valentine's Day chocolates take their toll. And in the office, where boxes of doughnuts and cheap vending machine fare can wreak havoc on new wellness goals, one company offers deliveries of nutritious treats to help workers avoid the neon lure of Cheetos.
The South San Francisco, Calif.-based FruitGuys sends crates of fresh fruit to businesses throughout the country - both small companies and Fortune 500 corporations. The produce is pricey. A biweekly delivery of a 50-serving crate of organic mixed fruit would cost about $8,700 per year. The treats are shipped in environmentally friendly packaging and the company tries to provide produce grown within 320 kilometres of the respective client.
"Food is one of the easiest gateways to get people on the right road to health," said Chris Mittelstaedt, FruitGuys' founder - and healthy workers boost morale.
"People are happier at their jobs. They feel their company is taking a proactive approach and thinking positively about their health."
