I have attachements to certain makeup items that remind me of being young, and lucky for me, these have either remained on the market because they are just stand out creations (or, are at least making a brief comeback)!
Lancome Definicil mascara
My mom used to use buy this mascara in Iran, back in the 70's. She'd always mention to me when I was growing up, that whenever she got her pay check, which wasn't particularly substantial, she'd always find a way to buy a tube of this mascara, regardless of the high price tag. Years later, I relented and splurged outside of my drugstore eyelash product purchases and understood moms story completely. Lengthening, zero clumps, available in four complimentary shades and won't smudge with tears or water, it works as an everyday or a night-on-the-town mascara.
Body shop Banana Shampoo
Available-for-a-limited-time (started November 2nd), the fav. Banana shampoo and conditioner are back in stores at the Body Shop. What a throw back this is for me. Once upon a time, when I was a young lass, I used to frequent Fairview Mall's location on a Saturday and spend an hour in the store just smelling all the awesome products and this combo was one of my very favourites. Having naturally dry, curly hair, the moisturizing formula with natural ingredients (like community trade banana puree) is a gentle cleanser that, combined together, make for a killer smelling head of hair.
Bonnebell lip smackers
Umm, should I be ashamed to say that I still carry around this basic chap-stick in my purse, because, to be honest, I'm not. Containing sesame oil for glossy shine, beeswax so it doesn't fade away fast, and mineral oil to moisturize the lips, it doesn't matter which flavour you lean towards. They are an easy on the wallet, old school go-to. Early New Year's resolution: place a lip smacker in the pocket of all my jeans so I shall never be without (note to all my girls, please add to my holiday wish list: Cookie dough and the M&M's trio pack flavours - thank you!).
Despite the flashy, sexy, vixen-like products that may find their way into my makeup bag from season to season, it's the items in your kit from back in the day that evoke goofy memories or funny stories that you'll always keep going back to.
So, spill already! What product has been a staple in your bag since you were trolling the malls in braces? Anything a friend introduced you to that you now can't live without?
