I've never really been much for stars or star sightings. I mean, think it is neat to see them around town, but I don't really want to take pics with them, rush them for autographs and question them about stuff or profess my love for them.
I AM however, like this when it comes to pro celeb make-up artists. I had a chance to meet Chase Aston, international celebrity make-up artist to the stars, and let me tell you, it was all smiles and giggles for two reasons: being in the presence of make-up royalty and the fact that I was getting paid to do this.
I love my job!
Having done over 200 magazine covers and made up some rather note worthy celebrities (Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears), Chase somehow puts makeup back on the table as fun. An accessory, as opposed to a necessity, which is refreshing and makes beauty and products fun again!
With all of this, he also finds time to represent the Body Shop.
Not just hocking some line of frou frou foundation or overpriced skincare, Chase is actually involved with the line and has a vested interest in both the ingredients and formulations along with the proper application of the make-up.
I caught him in town recently to showcase the new 2009 Autumn Trend make-up collection, which is an earthy inspired set of cool and warm shades with intense metallic to set off the season.
The Fall line includes a Pearlescents Blush Trio ($23) in warm sunset and cool dusk, Pearlescents Eye Trio ($16) in sundown glow and moon lustre, Dazzling Eye Definers ($11) in 5 shimmering shades, and 37 shades of the new Colourglide Lip Colour ($12.50).
Now, I am not a huge fan of lipstick, but I did nothing save slathering soft beige ( shade #56 ) on my lips all weekend long - it is the exact shade of my own lips (big bonus for someone who prefers a natural look) and is so sheer, creamy and moisturizing, it makes for a fantastic all around lip product. Glamorous silver package benefit - I feel extra girly pulling this out of my purse as opposed to my chap stick.
With being a huge fan of the smoky eye, getting a chance to see the use of the moon lustre eye trio lined with the shimmering steel eye definer was a charming and fresh update on the classic look when using these rich, shimmering shades.
Chase went through demonstrations of the warm and cool palettes on two models and made it quite evident that, although shimmery and metallic, both of the palettes can be used for day and evening, which is exactly what we need - a little bit of sparkle to helps us twinkle a little bit brighter as the sun sets sooner this season.
Check out the demos hosted by Chase Aston himself, here.
