Editor's note: Welcome to Bahar as she joins the Yahoo! Canada Lifestyle blogging family.

I've recently become a renter in one of the country's most expensive cities to live in. Toronto. As such, I've decided it's time to focus on my spending habits, as I am a self proclaimed shoe, top, purse, product junkie and often spend whatever amount I please when it comes to trying new products.
With this in mind, I've hunted down my top 8 under $8, and listed them out to keep you going through the Winter season.

The skin you're in

It's easy as the weather gets colder to want to stay in and miss a pedicure or facial here and there, so as an alternative, two items that will keep your skin looking smooth.

The St. Ives Mineral Clay  Firming Masque at approx. $6.00 cleans deep and also stimulates collagen, firms and tones

Biore's Pore Minimizing Refining Exfoliator  at about $8.00 is the most pricey item on the list, but this is one of the greatest skin refiners on the market. Not abrasive, yet powerful enough to rid the skin of the dead layers that need to come off, it's a great product for all year round.

The right tools:

The e.lf. professional Travel Kit - $5.00 contains all the essentials: a powder brush, brow comb, angled shadow brush, lip brush, and an eye shadow applicator. Bonus ? this pouch fits into your purse or gym bag!

Give good face:

Framing your face happens with a great set of eyebrows. The key to polished eyebrows? Fill and Seal!

Fill - Annabelle Eyebrow Pencils. At $6.25 dollars each, and five natural shades to choose from, they can also double as an eyeliner.

Seal - Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara at $6.99 will ensure the colour you've just placed is locked in and the and your brows stay in place. Again, a dual product, as it's also a mascara.

Hair, there, everywhere!

Around $7.49 for a tub of John Frieda's Reinforce strengthening creme masque reminds your hair to behave, as fly aways and frizzies in this rainy season of Winter calm down and cooperate.

If the price isn't enough to reel you in, then maybe the mandarin balm and pearl infused tropical scent will remind you of warm summer days. Herbal essences none of your frizzness at $3.99  bottle.

Hands:

Glysomed's fragrance free hand cream is convenient enough to carry in your purse in it's smaller form, and starting at $2.99, you'll want to grab a few to keep one at the office, one in your purse, and one next to the TV.

There it is. A short list on a shorter budget. If you've got your own list of bargains that you deem as essentials, post a note and share!

YES YES YES!!! Finally someone who isn't pushing Aveda's new "eye boosting Tourmaline, Green Science" over priced rubbish. These are the cold hard facts. I love it!! I just went out and spent $46.71 and got all of these. Not only did I get a wink in the elevator this morning but I think I may get promoted. Direct correlation... I think soooo. Anyway, thanks for this and I'll look out for future posts.

I'm so happy about your suggestions that I'm going to put on my tap shoes and dance all the way to the store. And if anyone stops me along the way, I'm going to kick them in the shins and then dance over their limp body.

Wow! Practical and affordable!! Thank you Bahar! It's refreshing to see helpful beauty tips that are not only useful, but won't break the bank in today's murky economic waters. Keep it up!

If you use facial blotting tissues try using ZigZags(rolling papers) instead! they are WAY cheaper and they work exactly the same!

I think that all the background work is done for us in this article. It is so helpful to people like myself who have a busy schedule and don't have the time to research and test products until we find what works best, and at a good price. Thank you for doing all the "leg work" for your readers!
