Beauty talk with Lainey Gossip

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing Elaine (Lainey) Lui of laineygossip.com and CTV's eTalk. We chatted about how so many Hollywood celebrities were overdoing it when it came to Botox and filler injections. Elaine is no stranger to dishing out the latest scoop, and it was a thrill to hear some of those juicy gossip tidbits.

Because Elaine has been travelling more in recent years to cover international events, I wanted to find out how a busy schedule that involves frequent flights would affect alter her beauty regime, which is all about simplicity.

What are your must-have skincare products?
I have combination skin and I hate the thought of skin buildup. To avoid that feeling I use a daily gentle exfoliant to help cleanse my pores. In addition to daily exfoliation, I never leave home without wearing sunscreen!

How do you keep fit and feeling good as you age?
I'm not a gym goer. When it comes to keeping fit, I rely on daily walk (I basically walk everywhere instead of driving) and I'm an avid golfer. Along with walking around Vancouver to get to my different appointments, I also take my dog out for long walks on beautiful Vancouver trails. When it comes to keeping fit when I'm on the road, I'll admit it can be a challenge simply because when you travel for business, you are not always in control of your time.

How often do you visit your spa for facial treatments?
I'm not big on the idea of facials. All my skin care routines are done at home.

What's your favourite power food?
I love eggs whites, and I also love beets.

How do you keep life in check and manage stress?
When it comes to managing stress, I don't show my discontentment about a situation in public. Instead, I prefer to keep it bottled up until I get home and then I let go of any negative or stressful situation. I also will take my dog for long walks to calm down.

What's your ultimate secret to aging well?
I keep it really simple and rarely think about getting older. I don't feel that I need to try too hard because I feel that, as an Asian, I'm predisposed to not show many signs of aging.

What's your favourite spa around the world and why?
I don't like to go to spas because I'm not enough to withstand the two to three hours required to fully enjoy a few spa treatments. That said, I'll give in to the occasional massage.

What's your biggest beauty splurge?
I don't give into expensive spa treatments or anti-aging products. My biggest splurge is golf. I love the game and play as often as I can. Since my husband is also an avid golfer, I recognize that we spend a lot of money on a sport that is already fairly pricey, but we love it and golf makes us happy!
