What's your prom emergency?
It's the morning of prom and you wake up with a massive pimple...
A: Wing Sze Tang, FLARE's Acting Beauty Editor: First, hands off! Resist the urge to squeeze, especially if it's a deep, "underground" pimple. Trying to pop it can make matters worse, especially if it gets infected - that's a recipe for scarring. Instead, gently dab on a spot treatment containing benzoyl peroxide (such as Clinique Acne Solutions Emergency Gel or Clean & Clear Persa-Gel). The ingredient will zap bacteria and also help unclog pores. But even if the blemish doesn't magically vanish in time, clever camouflaging with a bit of concealer can make it seem like it did.
A: Tammy Palmer, FLARE's Senior Market Editor: Unless you are someone in a 5 foot radius is a pro with a needle and thread, quickly run upstairs and throw on the simplest sexiest frock you own, leaving your hair and jewels in tact. No one will know the difference - just flaunt your smile and gorgeous glow.
A: Fiona Green, FLARE's Assistant Fashion Editor: Pull her hair so she cries and goes home. Kidding! Whatever you do, don't spend the entire night glued to the other side of the room. If you brush it off and have the time of your life dancing and taking photos with friends, you'll ultimately look better in the dress anyway.
A: Karen Kwan, FLARE's Associate Editor: At this point, just thank your lucky stars that you remembered to put on a deodorant! The newest versions, such as our fave Secret Clinical Strength, offer prescription-strength protection for those of us who get a little sweatier than others. You swipe it on at night and the formula is pulled into the superficial layer of your skin, creating plugs that help reduce sweating (Don't worry - the plugs wash away next time you bathe).
So, just take a few deep breaths to help calm your jitters, and enjoy your special night.
You've gotten your period unexpectedly and your prom dress is white...
A: Laura Lanktree, Editor, teenflare.com: This is no biggie. I mean, how many times have you had your period before without leeks? Still, it's an understandable concern.
Go for a tampon and a back-up protection against leeks. Either a pantyliner (something with wings to avoid shifting) or a panty with a built in gusset will do. I would suggest Lunapanties by Lunapads . They are comfortable, sleek undies with a built-in barrier to keep you safe from embarrassment.
