TO-DO WITH 4 WEEKS TO GO:

Hit the gym!

Now is the time to work on your cardio so you will be able to dance the night away! Start going to the gym regularly or grab a buddy and set up workout dates at home. Not only will you be able to tear up the dance floor, but you will also look buff and toned in your dress!

Smile!

Don't forget about your most precious accessory: your beautiful smile! Stop by your local drugstore and pick up a toothpaste with whitening to pump up your pearly whites or even try an at home whitening kit to give your teeth an even brighter shine.

Smooth operator!

You want your hair to be perfect on prom, right? Well now is the time to start deep conditioning once a week. You will be using hot tools and pulling your hair in all directions that day, so it needs to be strong and healthy. Deep conditioning once a week in the shower for a few minutes will make a world of difference.

Pen it in!

Make all of your basic appointments (i.e. hair, manicure, pedicure, facial) now. Your favourite professionals will have more than one gal to beautify that day, so slot yourself into her day planner before her time is booked!

TO-DO WITH 2 WEEKS TO GO:

Dress rehearsal!

This might sounds crazy, but it is a good time to try on your dress with all of the finishing touches, so you're not running to the mall at the last minute because you forgot to buy...say pantyhose! Make sure you have all of the right undergarments and accessories to make your day run smoothly.

Face forward!

You want your skin to be a smooth canvas so your make-up glides on easily. Many salons and spas offer teen facial packages and use products formulated for young skin. A teen facial can help to unclog blocked pores, reduce oil and the appearance of pores, and clear acne. Make sure you and your esthetician first assess your skin type so you can decide what type of facial is best for you. The basic skin types include oily skin, combination skin, dry skin, and sensitive skin. Also, let her know that you have prom coming up so you want as little imperfections on your skin as possible.

*Note: Facials sometimes cause breakouts since they're drawing all of the dirt out of your skin, this is why it is good to give you skin as much time as possible before prom to heal.

TO-DO WITH 1 WEEK TO GO:

Wax on!

No one wants scratchy stubble when they're dancing close with their sweetie, so make an appointment with a trusted esthetician to get your body smooth and sleek. Give yourself at least a week before the big night so you don't have any redness or irritation from the waxing. It's also a good idea to exfoliate afterwards so you don't end up with ingrown hairs.

Walk this way!

Before prom, practice strutting in your heels. It'll break your shoes in a bit and potentially save you from painful blisters the night of.

You glow girl!

Everyone knows that tanning beds are a huge no-no, but it is nice to have a healthy glow for your prom pictures. One safe alternative is the use of sunless tanners (also known as self-tanning lotions). Sunless tanners deliver a safe tan that typically lasts for three to five days. Unlike tanning beds, they don't involve dangerous ultraviolet rays, and are usually made up of common ingredients you find in most regular lotions.
