Which swimsuit shape will flatter my body most?
According to Pre and Susan, it's just a matter of finding the right suit for your silhouette. For women who are apple-shaped and carry a little more weight around the tummy, Pre and Susan suggest a swimsuit with tummy control. "Ruching, higher cut legs and anything that will define your waistline are great options." Pear-shaped women (a.k.a triangle-shaped women) should try two-piece suits with a colourful detailed top and a simple, solid-coloured bottom. Someone who has a more rectangular shape is in need of curve-enhancing swimwear. "This body type should choose swimsuits with belted bottoms, hardware or patterns, extra detailing-anything that is eye-catching."
How do I take the attention off my problem areas?
If you don't want to call too much attention to your arms, Pre and Susan suggest tube style swimsuits. "It leaves your chest sort of open so you don't emphasize the arms." The pear-shaped woman is probably looking to conceal her wider hips and thighs. Halters and racerbacks call attention to the shoulders, which is a great way of flattering your upper body (which is your best asset), while taking the attention away from your wider bottom. If your problem is shorter legs, you can always give them the illusion of length with a high-cut suit. Cover-ups are another alternative. They're very stylish this season so there's no shame in covering up this year.
Should I opt for a one-piece or a two-piece?
When it comes to the type of suit you choose, it's important to select the one you feel most comfortable in. Tankinis are great for women who want to cover-up, yet still be able to tan their tummies. "It covers a lot of problem areas but it's still very flattering and popular for both thinner and thicker women who are not necessarily comfortable with their body shape." Go for a sexy bikini or a one-piece cutout suit if you're really comfortable with your shape. Then we have the classic one-piece which is definitely on trend this year and suits all sorts of different body types. You just can't go wrong with it.
