Beach Hair At Home

Those lucky Spring Breakers are in for a great beach wave, thanks to the salt water in their new one-week habitat. But what about those of you left at home? Have no fear - a beach wave is fully attainable with the right tips and tools.

We went straight to Hollywood's top tresser, David Babaii, to get his tips on the perfect loose wave. With his line of products, David Babaii for WildAid, quickly becoming an international hit and a roster of big celebrity clients, like beach goddess Kate Hudson, he's clearly the pro-in-the-know.

What are the steps to achieving a natural beach wave at home?
For Kate's trademark curls, it's all about 4 main signature stages: drying, sectioning, curling and styling.

To get started, I spray her entire head with David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray and scrunch it into the hair for the right texture and movement. I always rough dry her hair until it's dry, meaning I blow dry her hair while tousling it in various directions with my hands. Once dry, I section the hair into 3 different parts-this is vital so you have constant control of the hair at all times.

Then I use a ceramic curling iron to create her classic bohemian wave. Taking small "V" shaped sections, I wrap the hair around the inside of a closed barrel, leaving the ends free. Then I run my fingers up the partially curled section to get a dramatic and wild finish. For additional lift or volume at the scalp area, use my David Babaii for WildAid Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier.

To complete the look, I spray additional David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray and have Kate flip her head down and over.

Any tips on getting the look minus the frizz?
Yes. To control frizz, simply massage a small amount of my David Babaii for WildAid Hair Polish into the frizzy areas, either after towel drying or once hair is completely dry. My hair polish is light and won't weigh down the hair, so you can apply as often as needed. It also mends and hydrates. Once this step is complete, proceed with the Bohemian Beach Spray.

Are there certain hair types that this style will hold best for?
Almost any hair type can achieve this look, unless your hair is extremely resistant to curl.

Will this look last overnight? Is there an easy way to refresh your beach wave in the morning without going through all of the steps again?
If your curls need refreshing, it's simple. Spray some additional Bohemian Beach Spray to re-activate your curls and texture. Then simply scrunch and you are good to go.
