THE FAME GAME

As season 6 ofEntouragehits the air (Sunday’s onHBO Canadaat 10:30pm ET),FLAREcaught up with Canuck actor Emmanuelle Chriqui, who plays Sloan on the award-winning series, to discuss her life as a rising star.

Chriqui plays Sloan on

FLARE:You’ve played Sloan onEntouragesince season 2. In what ways do you relate to her?

EC: “Sloan is very levelheaded and I think it gets her far in life. She’s grounded and I think that’s what people like about her.”

FLARE:What do you enjoy most about playing her?

EC: “The cast is so amazing. It’s such a pleasure to be able to read the script and laugh out loud. We’ve built a family over the past couple years. With my character we get to have so much fun with hair, makeup and wardrobe. It’s just so fabulous. I get to go to work and play dress up.”

FLARE:Is your style similar to Sloan’s?

EC: “Probably yes, but mostly when I’m getting dressed up. She’s far more glamorous on an everyday level than I am. In my everyday life, I would say my style is tomboy meets bohemian. When I get dressed up it changes all the time.”

Chriqui at the

premiere

FLARE:Is there one premiere or event where you just felt that everything came together perfectly?

EC: “My premiere forDon’t Mess With the Zohanin LA . The designer was Amanda Wakeley. She’s amazing and the dress that I wore was so spectacular in my opinion. That was my favourite red carpet look thus far.”

FLARE:How has your fame affected your life and what’s it like landing on all of those ‘Hot 100’ lists?

EC: “You know what, it’s actually really funny because it happened over a period of time. I feel like as things sort of happened I had time to adjust. As far as the lists, it’s such an honour. It’s so lovely, of course. But I always say this and I mean it from the bottom of my heart, ‘if everyone had the level of hair, makeup, lighting and wardrobe that we all have, we’d all be topping those lists.’”

FLARE:Do you tend to hangout or date other actors or do you avoid it?

EC: “I’m not big on dating other actors. Honestly I have no judgment, but I find that it’s very difficult as it is just to be one actor doing this crazy thing. But with two, I just feel like it would be too much stress. There are just too many unknown factors.”

FLARE:What’s the one role that people constantly want to cast you as?

EC: “The girlfriend or the pretty wife, very typical women roles. There’s just not that much writing that caters to really amazing roles for women.”

FLARE:What is one of your favourite roles written for a woman?

EC: “There are several. I loved what Gwyneth Paltrow played inShakespeare in Lovebecause not only did she celebrate her beauty and her sensuality but she also pretended to be a man. It was just so flawless to me. I loved it. I loved Angelina Jolie’s role inThe Changeling. That was amazing. But my idol of all idols isKate Winslet. Everything she does is just phenomenal.”

FLARE:You have the thriller13with Mickey Rourke coming out next year. Can you talk a bit about that?

EC: “I have a supporting role in that but just being in that company was really exciting. I play Aileen. It’s one of the only female characters in the film. She’s in this relationship with her husband, who is a heroin addict. It’s kind of dark, dealing with that. She finds him after an overdose. It’s really dramatic.”

FLARE:What is your most treasured possession?

EC: “I lost my mother many years ago and she left me this diamond solitaire ring. Someone very special in my life knew I was never going to wear this big rock on my finger so he turned it into a necklace for me. It’s something that I wear and is just so special to me because it has so much meaning. My father gave it to my mother and my mother gave it to me.”
