It's prom season, and you know what that means: dances, punch and munchies... and beautiful gowns! Here are a few key points to help you avoid the dreaded effect-killing peek-a-boo undies. After all, as Carolyne Roy-Malenfant, Photographer for Canadian lingerie giant La Vie en Rose, says: "Your undergarments are the foundation of how you will look in that dress."
First off, a convertible bra is your best friend: you can arrange the straps to suit a backless dress, one with criss-cross straps in back or even a halter-back. Or take the straps off to suit a strapless gown. And unless your dress has a super-frilly bust, you'll want a seamless cup. As for undies, Carolyne notes that "Nobody likes visible panty lines. Under body-hugging garments, wear a looser-fitting thong that won't dig into your waist and ruin an otherwise seamless silhouette." Going flouncy? Opt for boy briefs or a bikini - but still nothing too tight! And always wear nude tones under light colours and darker shades under darks.
