Lingerie for every figure

Looking for romantic lingerie that will hide your hips or enhance a small bust? Here are some tips on how to flatter your figure by choosing the right lingerie for your shape

Lingerie for every figure

Figure type #1: Straight and narrow

When it comes to lingerie shopping for the straight and narrow figure, creating curves is the main goal.
• Padding, lace and similar detailing in the bra or around the décolleté add volume to your bust
• Ribbing in a corset will create an hourglass figure by cinching in the waist
• A ribbon or any horizontal element around the mid-section creates the illusion of a waist
• Pretty details, like lace on panties, give the illusion of a voluptuous hip

Pleasure State lingerie is available at Secrets from Your Sister (orders can be placed over the phone and shipped anywhere across Canada)

Slip $110, sizes S-M-L

Thong $50, XS-L

Tip: To save on this ensemble, purchase basic black panties in any style. It will be easier to match the black from the slip than the white.

Figure type #2: Full figure

With a voluptuous figure choose lingerie pieces that accentuate your favourite features.
• Look for bras with an underwire for support but with little to no padding
• The flowing body of a slip covers any problem areas; look for one in black or other dark colours for a slimming effect
• Senior style editor Deborah Fulsang suggests a full brief-style panty because it's more flattering for a full figure than a thong or boy-short
• Vertical stripes or lines will draw the eye up and down, creating an elongated figure

Available at La Vie En Rose, $40, sizes S-M-L-XL

Figure type #3: Large bust

No need to sacrifice comfort for sexiness when you have a large bust. Splurge on a bra that fits you perfectly and it will do wonders.

• Look for bras with wide shoulder straps to prevent them from digging in
• Steer clear of bras with padding or lots of detailing around the cup since these will only add volume
• Wearing pretty, detailed panties draws the eye downwards
• Dark purple is a great choice for lingerie, since it deviates from basic black but will still flatter any skin tone

Pleasure State lingerie is available at Secrets from Your Sister (orders can be placed over the phone and shipped anywhere across Canada)

Purple bra $180, sizes C-G 32-46

Panties $87, sizes XS-XL

Tip: Buy solid purple panties from a less expensive brand and splurge on a properly fitted bra.

Figure type #4: Small bust

Enhancing a small bust has come a long way since the days of socks and tissue. With water, gel or basic cushion padding you can choose the bra that best suits your budget and style preference.

• Ruffles, prints, lace and strap detailing all add interest to the bust area without overwhelming
• Padding and details around the cups create the illusion of a bigger bust

Available at La Senza, Bra $36.50, sizes 32-38 A-D, Panties (lace) $9.50, sizes XS-XL

Good for you Lyn is Here! I agree with you 'fully'. I am not a larger woman either, but athletically built with a full healthy great figure.

Well Aimie, I got news for you. There are many men out there that prefer larger women. It's narrow-minded people like yourself that cause women to have low self esteem that contributes to over eating. You're nothing more than a school girl bully making comments like that. I feel sorry for you. I say if a larger woman feels sexy wearing it - than all the more power to her. It's not like you have to look at it anyways. And .....for the record......NO, I'm not a larger woman. I'm just sick and tired of all the rude comments about them. I have family and friends that are. Some of them actually have medical conditions that prevent them from being thin. Being large does not mean unhealthy. Shame on you Aimie. There's nothing "sexy" about an attitude like yours.

EWW!!!! Lingerie on big, out of shape (oh, i'm sorry "full figured") women looks repulsive, no one wants to see that, come on! Don't kid around thinking you can wear something that you CAN'T!!!! Sexy lingerie is NOT for "everyone" and that is just the way it is. Sorry!
