Day to night update

Five must-have products to help you transform your look from day to night.

By Tania Kwong

Have a festive soirée to attend straight from the office? No problem. Angie Semple, education and artistry manager for Dior, reveals her five must-have products to help you transform your look from day to night.

1. An illuminating concealer pen will smooth and highlight at the same time. Use it to optically 'lift' key areas like above the brows, top of the cheekbone, sides of the nose, outer and inner corners of the eyes, and on the lip contour for added fullness. You'll look well rested and ready to party.

2. A pencil liner is a quick and easy way to add intensity to the eyes, so keep a black, purple or slate blue one stashed in your office top drawer. By lining the inner rim of your upper lid, at the base of the lash line, you'll draw attention upwards and give the illusion of denser lashes without having to do a perfect line on top. For a smoldering effect, smudge liner along the outer corner of the eye at the lash line.

3. A creamy-textured mousse blush will add a subtle glow to your skin without depositing too much glitter. Look for one that does double duty so you can quickly enhance both your cheeks and your lips in a pinch.

4. For dramatic lips, go for a rich-coloured liner like burgundy to add some depth to the mouth and enhance your existing lipcolour. When in doubt, use a nude liner.

5. A richly pigmented red or burgundy lipstick is a makeup-bag must. If you're colour shy, go for a coppery-bronze hue which will add depth to your lips without being excessive.
