The word is official: René Charles, the eight-year-old son of Celine Dion and René Angélil, is going to become a big brother next May.
So what can Celine expect from pregnancy number two, as compared to pregnancy number one?
Here are a few quick predictions.
She may start showing sooner. Vegas show moves or not, Celine's abdominal muscles are unlikely to be as taut as they were when she was expecting René Charles (she's been pregnant before), so she can expect to start showing sooner than she did during her first pregnancy.
She may be able to detect baby kicks sooner. First time moms can find it difficult to distinguish between baby moves and stomach gurgles (at least until baby gets bigger and his movements become stronger). Second-time moms know what baby kicks and flutters feel like. This gives them the edge in detecting baby movements a few weeks sooner.
She may be less preoccupied with her pregnancy this time around -- or not. Many women find that they're able to relax and enjoy their second pregnancies much more - and that they're less preoccupied with the fact that they're pregnant. After all, they've been pregnant before. But Celine's situation is a little different. Her pregnancy wasn't easily achieved, so she's unlikely to take it for granted. The world was invited to share in Dion's first pregnancy in 2000-2001. ("There's no hiding happiness," they stated at the time. "We can't keep something so big, so wonderful a secret just for us.") And it appears that history will repeat itself this time around. (The couple went public with their news as soon as the pregnancy was confirmed.)
