  • Why are middle class people so jealous of upper class people?

    Marriage & Divorce - 6 hours ago

    Additional Details

I could drag this question out into a full-blown essay, as I have years of experience under my belt in watching middle class people suffer in their middle class nightmares. But I'll only point to one example. Why do middle class people obsess over taking vacations? I mean, when middle class people take a vacation, they take millions of pictures and discuss the fact that they're actually on a vacation. And when they get back from the vacation, they don't shut up about the vacation. When I was growing up, we'd pack up and spend the summer months in the Bahamas (nothing too fancy but my parents have a bungalow down there). We didn't scream, "Oh, we're on a vacation! Let's take a million pictures to remind ourselves of it!" Nor did we treat the locals with disrespect as do many middle class people since it's there only opportunity to be the boss of someone else--similar to how they treat waiters in restaurants. Rich people actually treat waiters kindly. Middle class people abuse the power divide. Anyway, do middle class people just obsess over how they feel like 'royalty' for that one week? Is that what it is? Are they so frustrated with their class status that they worship the idea of not being enslaved for that one week every year? You guys have to know what I'm talking about. So why are they so obsessed with vacations?

I am struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and have been struggling with alcoholism as a result of it. First off, I have nonstop panic attacks because of seizure disorder and the only way I can go outside is to drink. I almost died 5 years ago at age 23 from a brain aneurysm. Well, I successfully quit drinking for months and relapsed. I have no license from seizures and my friend drove us to a bar. My body wasnt used to alcohol and I got drunk extremely fast. I ended up falling in the parking lot and hit my head VERY hard, cut my nose, hands and knee. My friend was like ur fine and took me home. She was so wasted that she helped me up and left. The pain in my head was so extreme and I got up and looked in the mirror and could not believe how much blood and the size of the injury that was on my head. I called 911 since I knew there was something wrong because of the amount of pain I was in. At the hospital (which i deserved) they treated me like crap for drinking yet I still needed a ride home. My mom started screaming at me when I called and asked me what happened and I told her I think we were in an accident and that my friend (who Im questioning my frienship with anyway considering leaving me bleeding) drove home to avoid a DUI. Its been 24 hours. I have been in bed all day. How do I explain to my mom this was all a fabricated lie? Or do I just roll with the car accident story? One things for sure, this is def. a low point and Ive needed one as an excuse to get sober. THanks I went thru a year long rehab program. My panic attacks came back and my doctor said they are a result of PTSD and put me on Seroquel. (which is for psychotic episodes) I sleep 24 hours straight on it or I would take it.

So for a little while she has been off with me, i asked her if anything was wrong and she said there wasn't and that she has just been tired lately because of her new job. I also asked a friend who we are both friends with and she told me i was just being sensitive and she is quiet anyway. We were meant to be meeting this morning and i texted her to make sure it was still on, and she said no sorry im working. So i take it she wouldnt of even told me she wasnt going to turn up. Then i see she is on msn and she signed out quite quickly. I haven't done anything, i'm not bitchy and i am nice to her, so what is her problem? She doesn't admit to anything so i dont think talking to her about it would help. Should i just not bother with her? But i don't understand why she is acting like this towards me? I feel like she doesn't like me anymore.

Have better sex this year

Three ways to reconnect with your partner during the busy holiday season

By Alicia Cox

Breaking sex news: A recent survey conducted by Leger Marketing and sponsored by Eli Lilly Canada Inc. found that while nearly eight in 10 Canadians believe sexual intimacy is an important part of their lives, 47 per cent would not speak to their partner first if they thought there was a serious issue negatively impacting their sexual relationship. Surprised? Now throw in the shopping, wrapping, baking, cleaning and more that comes with December and you're sure to find an alarming amount of unsatisfied couples. We spoke with psychotherapist, relationship and sex therapist Rebecca Rosenblat to find out her best advice for getting better sex for Christmas.

Talk about the bigger picture

One in two men over 50 and one in three over 40 suffer from erectile dysfunction. "With sex being so important to most of us and too many of us losing the privilege, not to mention self-esteem, closeness and spontaneous connection," says Rosenblat, "I can't think of a better gift than to talk about it and head out to the doctor to reclaim the gift of intimacy and get a new lease on your sex life, especially since now we have new agents that can be popped once a day." Starting the conversation may be uncomfortable at first, but communicating with your partner openly and honestly will give you both the best gift imaginable - sex for life!

Mistletoe hot spots

When we make love, says Rosenblat, we release Oxytocin - a feel-good, bonding, relaxing hormone that de-stresses us and lifts our spirits at a time when it's easy to feel depleted. She suggests hanging some mistletoe over the bed, the kitchen counter and wherever else you need a reminder to kiss, connect and fool around. And don't be shy. "It may sound corny," she says, "but there's nothing corny about reminding yourself to stay connected at a time when relationships get set aside."

Spoil each other

There's no avoiding it: This holiday season will be more difficult for Canadians facing a struggling economy. The budget crunch could cause some parents to opt out of exchanging gifts to make it better for their kids. But don't neglect how you feel about each other. "Even if it's something small, take the time to put some thought into spoiling each other," says Rosenblat. "Maybe it's a bedroom gift where undressing can be more exciting than unwrapping or you can become each other's sex genie for the night and get little gifts to carry out your plan." Another great idea? Swap babysitting time with other parents who are also feeling the pinch, she says. It gives you all time to recharge your batteries and reconnect with your partners.
