TVOKids.com supports TVOKids’ The Space, a live hosted school-aged children’s block and Gisèle’s Big Backyard, a preschool block designed to give children a head start in learning. Our main page features contests, polls, a calendar, a web cam and many fun activities. Aimed at three to nine year olds, activities cover all subject areas, are directly linked to curriculum expectations of the Ministry of Education of Ontario, are developed with educational consultants and extend the broadcast learning. Activities star TVOKids hosts and include lesson plans for teachers and extra ideas for caregivers.

Smoothly blending education and entertainment, TVOKids.com provides convergent, interactive, leading-edge content that appeals to kids, parents and teachers.

TVOKids.com is a one-of-a-kind learning tool packed with fun! By converging our web projects with TVOKids on-air programming, we provide kids, parents and teachers excellent, integrated, educational entertainment. Developed for every kind of learner, our projects cover virtually all subject areas, adhere to the Ontario Curriculum and are developed with educational consultants. All that makes us one of the most trusted and visited Web sites in Canada.

All the resources available at TVOKids are fully in line with the Ontario Curriculum, and have been tested with teachers and students in their own classroom environments. The Ontario Curriculum is used as a starting point for each project in order to ensure that all activities are educational, and meet the same expectations that children are expected to learn in the classroom. This serves in creating a more meaningful learning experience for the child, as it imitates real-world scenarios in which problem-solving and trial and error are connected with other subject areas. Because of its child-friendly content and lack of advertising, caregivers, schools and libraries across Ontario feel comfortable allowing unsupervised access to TVOKids’ TV programs and online activities.

Almost all our projects at TVOKids are CONVERGED, meaning they have a TV, AND Web component, as well as a list of activities that kids can do easily at home. Each component relates to the key learning objective of the project.

So what makes all these games special? We visit the classroom to find out what the kids really want. We take this research, develop a prototype of a game and then bring it back to the classroom so kids can play it. We have a question-and-answer period and consider their suggestions before the game goes live on the web.

TVOKids.com is integrated educational entertainment at its best!
