Can’t bear to part with the mountain of memorabilia that you’ve collected over the years? Here are some smart ways to showcase your treasures:
- Decorate an old wooden coffee table with ticket stubs and souvenir matchbook covers. Glue the items to the surface of the table, cover the table with a spray-on sealant, and—voila!—you’ll have an eye-catching “memory table” to enjoy.
- Laminate maps from memorable family vacations and use them as posters in your family room. For a fun “3D” effect, glue souvenirs like seashells and pinecones to the map, too.
- Create a wooden shadowbox by using concert tickets, recital programmes, and other souvenirs with great sentimental value. You can purchase ready-to-finish shadowboxes in a variety of sizes at most craft stores.
- Mount wedding invitations, letters, and cards in photo albums or scrapbooks. You can either organize your treasures by date or by sender.
- Display your child’s latest painting on the ceiling over his bed. Store previous creations in poster tubes that have been clearly labelled with his or her name and the date.
