Ha Ha Ha! Oh Maclean's how retarded you are! Every other survey or report about different cities has showed Saskatoon SK as being a horrible, violent city. NOW its number 2 on this list!! Which are we? A bad city or a good city? I've lived in Saskatoon for the past 26 years and its one of the BEST in my opinion. Top university (also the most beautiful), clean, picturesque and fairly safe. Like all cities there are good and bad areas, but in Saskatoon the good heavily outweighs the bad.
I'm from the Sault Ste Marie. I guess we're lucky that the Sault is probably just slightly too small to be included in this list..but it's bigger than surrey, I think.
So in case anybody's interested, I can say that the Sault is definitely one of the best cites in the country..but it's got one of the most abysmally corrupt and ineffective municipal governments in the country. that sounds pretty vague, but I'd need to write an essay to really give you the idea.
this is an old mafia town, after all..and it seems that only morons aspire to careers in local gov.

Looking at Macleans list, it is quite apparent the cities were ranked by hat selection. If London is the best place to live in Ontario as an urban centre then the rest of Ontario must be a dump - which it is not! Macleans should do a little more homework and ask the citizens of each community what needs to be done. Stats can be used to show what it perceived to be great when in essence, it is the opposite. I highly question the vitality the results of this ranking and thought Macleans was a better magazine that did its research and investigation to a higher standard.
In response to Beaver's comment, those "chinese and other immigrants from the third world" are also the same ones who are bringing in millions of investment dollars each year to the province and its cities. And need I remind you that the Chinese practically BUILT this province, at a time when it was a dumpy colonial settlement waiting to be annexed by the US. Your Anglo-Saxon forefathers couldn't have done squat to save this province without their help. I agree with your comment about "less rape of our social services", but how about telling every other city to the east to stop shipping their homeless here by the busload? And what you said about separating from Ottawa is spot on!
And to Chris6_1999, first let me ask you this: can you even read properly? This survey is not trying to rank the best place to live, but rather "it focuses on the contribution of local governments to this end." Secondly, have ever been to Surrey? Take a look at these numbers, and learn to get your facts straight before opening your mouth. http://www.macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=20080312_162114_5536#murder
This is reply to 'Beaver' comment about life in BC:
What do mean by ' less Chinese and other immigrants from third world'? Why blame 'third world' for all the rubbish?
Its high time that the so called developed countries learned a lesson or two from us Indians, about how to live life effectively. Please remember, a finger pointed to others means 3 fingers pointed towards ourselves !!
